Midrange creatures in standard

What do you guys think are some of the best B/W/G creatures for midrange decks in M15 and Theros block (THS,BNG, and JOU)? I'm currently brewing up a junk deck for post rotation so I'm trying to build a solid base with only post rotation cards and then use Khans to improve the decks power and weaknesses... if possible of course. So I'm just curious to see what things you guys think are some of the best creatures in those colors? Some are obvious, I know, but just from the new core set I really like Genesis Hydra and Indulgent Tormentor . I really feel like his only downside is his toughness. You don't have to worry about not getting the option you want because you don't put him in to specificaly do 3 damage or make them sac or to draw a card, you put him in to do 1 of the 3 so as long as that happens it's an advantage. After seeing the preview of the new dual deck with what appears to be a guy from the Khans spoiler poster with R/B/W in his CMC, I feel like it could be hinting toward Khans being a wedge set like some have speculated so if this does prove true then it's possible B/G/W could be getting some nice stuff coming up. It's just a feeling, but I don't think it's one that is unreasonable.

Almost all the Information we have on Khans of Tarkir

For BWG, I really like Reaper of the Wilds . Brimaz, King of Oreskos is practically an auto-include, as is Courser of Kruphix .

Genesis Hydra is better in MGD because that deck has the ramp capabilities to make the hydra good. It's also the only deck that needs that form of card advantage. BWG already has strong card advantage and a midrange deck relies on its nonpermanents just as much as its permanents, if not moreso.

Without really knowing what's going to be in Khans, I have to think that right now planeswalkers are the best option. Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes are incredibly powerful, and Liliana Vess and Garruk, Apex Predator are nothing to sneeze at either.

well like I said I've been comprising a deck list of all post rotation cards and in testing the genesis hydra has been fairly effective but I see what you mean about being able to ramp more in a green heavy deck. Doing it for 3 though can grab a courser, brimaz, caryatid, Fleecemane Lion or even Banishing Light off the top of the deck as well. I'm really hoping for some good cheap removal in Khans. Bile Blight , Hero's Downfall , and Banishing Light seem to be the best and Bile Blight is great, just not as your only option for early game. And I'd prefer to have Banishing Light in the sideboard but being able to grab it and exile something when i cast the Genesis Hydra helps combat the fact it's a sorcery.

@Fulcrum Nice little list you have compiled there. Also, if the theme of the W/B/G clan is control, then maybe my suspicions that we see some good cheap removal in these colors too. I'm also hoping there are the ally pain lands are in this first set and they don't put them in the second set trying to slowly transition the meta or something. During some more testing after some changes, it's very tough to go T1 Elvish Mystic into a T2 Brimaz without a G/W dual land. It also makes it tougher, but not as much, to cast Fleecemane Lion turn 2 as well because at the moment half your white sources are going to come from temples which come in tapped. Unless you run more basics, but then you sacrifice fixing in a 3 color deck.

@abenz419: Even in 3-color decks, I tend to play 6-8 basics anyway. Being able to tap for colored mana without hurting is nice.

Yeah I know what you mean. What I meant was, unless you want to run more basics than that. Your obviously going to run some basics, but if you run too many you sacrifice on the color fixing you'll need in a 3 color deck. I've just had a lot of people tell me they think Brimaz would be an auto include in a junk midrange deck, so I've been testing with him and without shock lands giving you the untapped W/G land he just fits better in something that is heavy in white. Right now with the mana base we have it's just easier for junk be heavier in Black or green than it is for it to be in white.
