if masterwork of inginuity copies a batterskull would you get the germ token, first thought is no but i wanted to double check

For those that dont know Masterwork of Ingenuity reads " You may have Masterwork of Ingenuity enter the battlefield as a copy of any equipment on the battlefield"

EmblemMan says... #2

You would because it is entering the battlefield as a copy of a Batterskull so it is like a batterskull entering the battlefield

This thing is going to slot so easily into my EDH I Vant, my burd.... 1 mana clone for nearly 1/3 of my deck? Yes please. Nahiri too but the hard part is finding where...

Stoneblade is going to love this, if you kill the germ on the initial equipment they can simply copy it and leave the first Batterskull sitting on the battlefield. Since Batterskull sends itself to your hand this reduces the effective cost from 8 to 4. This is also an equipment by type and as such, tutorable.

I see no reason why Stoneblade would want this card? They play 1 Batterskull, two at the most. When you have tutors, there is little need for redundancy.

TurboFagoot flexibility. That's why it's good. You can also tutor this withy the same tutor you use to get batterskull. It's also a 1 drop as opposed to a 5 drop.

@Ohthenoises

Stoneforge Mystic is the Tutor that finds Batterskull ... but she can't find "Masterwork of Ingenuity" because it is not an Equipment until it is on the Battlefield copying something.

It is an equipment though. Check the type line.

Ah... I see.

I suppose as a 1 or 2 of in the deck MAY be okay... you wouldn't want to have more than one (if that) in an opening hand.

Ideal situation here but:

T2 stoneforge with Masterwork or Batterskull in hand, tutor for whichever one is missing.

T3 activate Stoneforge, drop Batterskull, use the land for turn to drop Masterwork, now you have 2 4/4 vig LL dudes.

Stoneforge doesn't want a second one. It already puts the first one in via stoneforge and this has a high change of being a dead draw.

Could be a sideboard against removal-heavy decks?

Not against removal heavy decks because you have academy ruins and batterskull protects itself but I could see it as a sideboard against stoneblade

October 30, 2014 12:27 p.m.

This could be a sideboard plan against stoneblade... if they banned Kusari-Gama . And... Yknow... It didn't suck? Why would you play one of these? You run 3, 4 equips in stoneblade. You don't want one that ONLY works if you or an opponent have one. Also, one of the equips is Jitte, which means that this won't work if you only have jitte. It's just... Not that good in legacy. I can see it being cool in EDH. Copy Argentum Armor ? I'm good with that. But a second batterskull? In a control deck? No thanks.

My bad. Manriki-Gusari . That's the thing I meant. NOT Kusari-Gama

Lol yea I was just thinking... wait what? How is that even played? I'm not too familiar with legacy, so I just sorta took your word for it that that was a stone blade side card. Stupid kamigawa. Anyway, this thing is decent, but doesn't seem reliable enough for legacy from my limited knowledge of the format. (I know stone blade runs jitte, which is legendary, and then two targets: a sword and Batterskull ). An extra sword is a bit redundant, as it doesn't give different protections. Two triggers when dealing combat damage is nice though, however investing 4 mana to equip them seems like something you don't want to do often in legacy, as that would likely take up your whole turn. A second batter skull is also nice, but it doesn't seem too much better than one. Reanimator/combo is still going to kill you, and you still win against delver if you get one out. Again, I don't play legacy at all, but this is just what i'm assuming from looking at stuff like deck lists.
