M15 Spoilers

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation forum

I thought I'd make a generic M15 spoiler thread for discussion

So a lot of M15 spoilers are out and can be found online

here: MTGSalvation

or here: MythicSpoiler

For me: favourite cards are phytozoan, and military intelligence. I think both could be very powerful.

What do you like?

Indulgent Tormentor seems busted.

Panda213 says... #3

Indulgent tormenter is going straight into my Erebos, God of the Dead edh deck. The rest of the set seems ok so far, I like seeing all of the convoke in it :)

ChiefBell says... #4

The two sources seem to differ on his power, regardless with a toughness of 3 he's somewhat vulnerable. I see him as a bad version of Bloodgift Demon maybe? His card draw is less conditional and can be used to kill people (which I've done in drafting).

Still good though, just I don't think it's great.

I really, really like how black is getting all these card draw options for EDH.

Ohthenoises says... #5

Triplicate Spirits makes me uber happy seeing as I was making a standard token build anyways. Might have to go back to Bant.

Ruric says... #6

for me Siege Dragon looks cool and brood keeper looks to have potential

May 23, 2014 8:11 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #7

I like squid tokens!

May 23, 2014 8:12 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #8

Yeh, I wasn't sure about Siege Dragon's authenticity because it mentions 'walls', but unless ive misunderstood they're not called walls anymore theyre defenders?

May 23, 2014 8:15 a.m.

Ohthenoises says... #9

Yea ChiefBell I was considering him for the token brew too. Imagine squiddy with Dictate of Heliod or Spear of Heliod .

May 23, 2014 8:18 a.m.

Seraphicate says... #10

ChiefBell I think wall refers to it's creature type. Wall of Fire

May 23, 2014 8:19 a.m.

Ohthenoises says... #11

Wall of Fire has the creature type "Wall"

Servo_Token says... #13

I prefer that the dragon says walls, so it doesn't hit the likes of Sylvan Caryatid or Axebane Guardian .

May 23, 2014 8:30 a.m.

Putrefy says... #14

~ 40 cards revealed and I'm not excited at all. So far the spoiled mythics are complete jokes, from a competitive point of view. I wonder why wizards tries so badly to make Magic slower. Why do the lords have CMC4? Because they boost all creatures of their color?

I really like that convoke is coming back though. Maybe Pod get's another ridiculous card which will ultimately lead to it's (justified) banning. I don't want to give up on M15 yet (bit soon, eh?) but so far I'm less than not excited.

May 23, 2014 8:44 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #15

What about the new faery thats threatening to see modern play?

May 23, 2014 8:55 a.m.

apt142 says... #16

I'm seeing a token theme and enchantment theme in there.

Enchantment makes sense as it will associate with Theros. But the the tokens... Is that to go with the next blocks?

May 23, 2014 8:58 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #17

Well it's certainly there to support convoke as a mechanic. Whether it's a hint at the next block - who knows. We could imagine that Kharns of Tarkir will present us with barbarian hordes given the setting. In this way tokens could play a large part. Who knows?

May 23, 2014 9:03 a.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #18

I'm liking the look of the 'Soul of' cycle.

Also, it looks like they're going to be supporting multi-coloured decks; this is a good sign for exciting land.

May 23, 2014 9:29 a.m.

meecht says... #19

Flesh to Dust seems overly expensive for Murder + no regenerate.

The paragon cycle seems cool. Everybody gets a Lord effect!

Siege Dragon's ETB ability seems kind of weird since Wall isn't a very common creature type nowadays, but the third ability is really cool. I can see it being a semi-finisher in an RDW devotion build where it can be given haste.

spyroswiz says... #20

Lots of token makers in M15. Also the red goblin is awesome. It has application for legacy, too.

May 23, 2014 9:32 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #21

YES! I love the red goblin

May 23, 2014 9:37 a.m.

JakeHarlow says... #22

The 1-drop Disperse -like sorcery is interesting.

May 23, 2014 9:37 a.m.

I think it's a sign of a somewhat disappointing set that we have to pick Void Snare and Triplicate Spirits to get excited over. From my impression so far, the only rares that may spark any interest and see some forced play are Waste Not and Goblin Rabblemaster, and even those are better suited for non-Standard archetypes.

Although, Jallax, Master Polymorphist is interesting; I could see myself playing that RUG high CMC list for giggles with him. Kinda sad that he's a bit of a nombo with himself though. Having to run a creature card to Polymorph -on-a-stick kind of defeats the purpose, especially considering he's legendary.

Hope to see some better spoilers here soon.

May 23, 2014 10:04 a.m.

Egann says... #24

It's not bad. It doesn't hold as much of my interest as Conspiracy does, but then few things will.

Jalax, Military Intelligence, and Phytozoan all look like decent cards.

May 23, 2014 10:18 a.m.

Goblins just got a sweet ass lord.

May 23, 2014 10:26 a.m.

Servo_Token says... #26

I would like to point out that most if not all of these cards (didn't check all) are from Duels of the Planeswalkers, which is notably weak in power level and is meant to teach players the game. I wouldn't expect a format defining card like Thassa, God of the Sea or Thragtusk to be in an introductory game like that. This leads me to believe that better spoilers are to come.

May 23, 2014 10:33 a.m.

cr14mson says... #27

yea, not really excited with the M15 spoilers so far.

May 23, 2014 10:49 a.m.

strateupjee says... #28

Indulgent Tormentor is exactly what MBD is gonna need when we lose Desecration Demon and Co. I am super excited for him

May 23, 2014 11:09 a.m.

Apoptosis says... #29

Not too thrilled with what I've seen so far, but I'm sure the best is still to come. Hoping that Chandra, Pyromaster sticks around, but would like to see new versions of the other standard walkers. It will be interesting to see what's the next Thragtusk or Archangel of Thune type card. I don't think I've seen it yet.

May 23, 2014 11:28 a.m.

DaggerV says... #30

No one excited for Genesis Hydra? For shame :(

I'm excited for this set, there's lots more to come, there will always be that one card that breaks that set.

May 23, 2014 11:32 a.m.

JakeHarlow says... #31

The goblin looks sweet. But the set as a whole is kinda meh so far. Genesis Hydra is near looking though. I have mixed feelings about the new borders and design changes too. But I'll keep quiet about that.

May 23, 2014 11:43 a.m.

Servo_Token says... #32

The goblin is certainly no Krenko, Mob Boss , but it would be pretty killer if there's goblins in KAHN.

May 23, 2014 11:46 a.m.

smash10101 says... #33

Yeah, set is kind of meh so far, but that's to be expected since we're still a ways away from official spoiler season. I like the new reset life angel for my kaalia EDH deck, and there is a white enchantment that'll see play in my pauper EDH deck, but so far, most of the cards won't do much for me. Oh, waste not will make it into my Nekusar list.

As for people complining about the new boarders, I can't speak for the holofoil thing on rares, but the lands (I have a bunch) are actually pretty sweet.

May 23, 2014 2:26 p.m.

strateupjee says... #34

Not to mention MUD gets Military Intelligence which in some situations is better than Bident

May 23, 2014 2:34 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #35

Anyone else notice that the mock for Seraph of the masses is a sorcery?

Looks like we'll be getting sorcery speed non-creature creatures this time around.

May 23, 2014 2:35 p.m.

Ruric says... #36

i think Chasm Skulker will be a pretty steady creature in a card draw deck

May 23, 2014 3:17 p.m.

BLEATH says... #37

The polymorph on a stick wants me to make a deck with her. 4 copies of her, then a bunch of token producers. Basically a re-vamped Shape Anew deck.

May 23, 2014 9:46 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #38

@ThatBlueMage I noticed it, but just assumed it was an error...

May 23, 2014 9:49 p.m.

Wolfninja says... #39

I like Chasm Skulker and the blue Paragon so far. I might try a blue token deck with those, Hall of Triumph and Master of Waves post rotation.

May 24, 2014 2:28 a.m.

VampireArmy says... #40

I mean...M sets don't normally have that many explosive cards. Some here are cool for edh though.

May 24, 2014 5:34 p.m.

strateupjee says... #41

That isn't true, the format defining, ever loved Thragtusk was in a core set

May 24, 2014 5:40 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #42

Not that many doesn't mean none ;p

The 1 cmc Bile Blight ish card that hurts you to, seems interesting.

June 1, 2014 8:05 a.m.

Chasm Skulker seems pretty sweet to me , already thinking ahead to maybe something Simic or maybe Dimir with the whole Notion Thief + Master of the Feast + Dictate of Kruphix , etc etc

June 11, 2014 10 p.m.
