Number of Cards: 184

Prerelease: July 8-9

Release: July 14

Cards released thus far Show

From the trailer video, I noticed that Bug Strider thing is about the same size as a god... Maybe the three gods that Bolas killed were gods of the plagues?

June 15, 2017 1:14 a.m.

Zaueski says... #2

Bolas didn't kill the gods, he took 3 with him to use as pawns later. If you watch the trailer carefully, there's 3 giant monsters so yes I believe they're the 3 gods.

So..... The card of the day on the mothership is Cruel Ultimatum. This picture is taken directly from there. (Link = http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles )

Cruel Ultimatum Spoiler

Note the set symbol. I think they accidentally just spoiled Cruel Ultimatum?

June 15, 2017 10:37 a.m.

Argy says... #4

I like Dark Intimations a bit better than this however, if there are a lot of Ramp enablers, that might change.

June 15, 2017 10:42 a.m.

Zaueski where did you hear that about Bolas taking the three gods with him? The story only implied that there were three that were missing and that they were likely destroyed by Bolas (my guess was that they resisted him).

I am loving the biblical references with the giant locust monster (and locust swarm) destroying the civilization. I really hope we get a cycle of OP creatures or cards each representing a biblical plague.

Reaxetion says... #6

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, the story line (I think it was the most recent, or maybe the one before it) explains that Bolas took 3 gods and sealed them away for his future use.

June 15, 2017 11:18 a.m.

DarkLaw says... #7

Reaxetion Notice the stone inbetween the horns? I'm pretty sure that's actually from Archenemy: Nicol Bolas.

June 15, 2017 11:23 a.m.

LittleBlueHero says... #8

Yes it was in story on the mothership, Bolas defeated all the Gods and while they were recovering took 3 of them as they "may come in handy later on" and then proceeded to destroy all life on the planet that was older than an infant and wipe the minds of the remaining Gods leaving the children in their care with his orders and false history in the minds of the Gods.

June 15, 2017 11:25 a.m.

Reaxetion says... #9

Good eye DarkLaw, my screen resolution here at work is pretty poor. Sorry for the false spoiler =s.

June 15, 2017 11:43 a.m.

Huh interesting and how did I miss three story chapters!? I kept checking the Amonkhet section, but I guess these new ones aren't being put in that section now which is frustrating (the Mazirek one is understandable though).

Thanks!

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor check the Hour of Devastation story page, different set different page.

DINOSAURS ARE A CREATURE TYPE HERE.

DarkLaw says... #14

EpicFreddi Wrong page, man.

Ixalan spoilers.

June 15, 2017 2:43 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #15

... And it looks like the page is (temporarily?) down.

June 15, 2017 2:53 p.m.

Zaueski says... #16

We've been debating the authenticity of those cards. If theyre fakes theyre super well done, but there's a card in them that goes infinite etb and ltb triggers with only itself...

June 15, 2017 2:55 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #17

Zaueski Which one's that? I didn't notice.

This thread is temporarily veering a little off topic, but it's probably fine.

June 15, 2017 3:02 p.m.

EpicFreddi says... #18

Oh jesus. Sorry.

June 15, 2017 3:08 p.m.

To get back on topic (sorta) Insects are a creature type that I have been HOPING got more attention. If that Locust Titan is in fact a "Legendary Insect" I would go crazy.

More likely its not Legendary, or if it is its a "God" but I think i could still work with that.

Crocodiles, Insects, and then Pirates and Dinosaurs coming up... also if the leaks were real we are getting at least a little tribal focus in IXALAN... Goblins are back Vampires are mono white (at least one was) Orcs are back.. Sirens... there are soooo many tribes in there already.

Found the Game Day playmat, it looks amazing lol

June 15, 2017 5:51 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #21

That it does.

I'd love for Cruel Ultimatum to actually see a reprint. It's probably better than either Bolas.

June 15, 2017 5:54 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #22

Card spoiled:

Jace's defeat

Counter target blue spell. If it was a Jace Planeswalker spell; scry 2

Feels like this is going to be a cycle, with each Gatewatch going down and a card for each

June 15, 2017 9:54 p.m.

Crayfish says... #23

I think it's odd that Jace'S Defeat isn't a story spotlight card. Seems like a pretty pivotal lore moment.

June 15, 2017 10:06 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #24

Defeat doesn't necessarily mean death. If one was going to die it would be a spotlight card

June 15, 2017 10:12 p.m.

Zaueski says... #25

enter image description here

GET REKT BOI xD

but no it isn't his death. Tag me on the TappedOut Discord if you wanna now why

cough Ixalan spoilers cough Jace Defeat-->

Theory Show

June 15, 2017 10:36 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #27

Japanese leak, I believe.

Nissa's defeat

2G

Sorcery

Destroy target Forest, green enchantment, or green planeswalker. If a Nissa planeswalker was destroyed this way, draw a card.

"Nissa, the soul of this world is dead - and I will gladly kill more.

About time, Bolas.

June 16, 2017 1:34 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #28

That's a good theory. It will fall on Ajani to find them and reunite the Gatewatch

June 16, 2017 7:03 a.m.

Sulk says... #29

Have you guys seen the leaks the defeats of Gideon Jace and Nissa? Bit annoyed they didn't kill Liliana instead of Nissa and Chandra's instead of Jace...

June 16, 2017 7:16 a.m.

Zaueski says... #30

enter image description here

enter image description here

Destroy a black creature or planeswalker. If its a lili they lose 3 life.

Sulk: Its unlikely that any of them will full on die as they are still the main characters. As AgentGreen said, defeat doesn't have to mean death.

June 16, 2017 7:43 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #31

Does Lili's defeat target only black planeswalkers or all planeswalkers?

If it's all planeswalkers that is solid walker hate. I'm assuming that's instant speed

June 16, 2017 8:07 a.m.

Zaueski says... #32

From MythicSpoiler:

"Sorcery

Destroy target black creature or black planeswalker. If it was a Liliana planeswalker, it's controller loses 3 life."

June 16, 2017 8:28 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #33

Then it's not that great; unless your opponent is running alot of black walkers

June 16, 2017 8:37 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #34

So I guess Chandra's defeat will be deal X damage to target red creature or red planeswalker; doing extra spice if a Chandra Walker goes down this way

June 16, 2017 8:41 a.m.

Argy says... #35

I guess some of these new spells might be decent Sideboard tech.

Can't see myself Mainboarding any of them, due to their specific nature.

June 16, 2017 9:48 a.m.

AgentGreen says... #36

I find it funny that Lili's defeat and Jace's defeat (and likely Chandra's defeat) can target Bolas as well

June 16, 2017 10:08 a.m.

Zaueski says... #37

I just hope we get a Chandra's Defeat... Because she's crazy enough to reattempt her stupidity in MS: Burn and that would be extremely bad...

June 16, 2017 10:17 a.m.

Argy says... #38

Burn is never stupid.

June 16, 2017 10:25 a.m.

Zaueski says... #39

The story Argy, not the archetype. In that story Chandra almost destroyed the entire plane of Kaladesh by suicide fireball. Nissa barely talked her down from it. I dont want her killing herself to destroy Amonkhet and maybe scratch Bolas...

June 16, 2017 10:32 a.m.

Argy says... #40

Why not?

Sounds like a solid plan to THIS Pyromancer. lol

June 16, 2017 10:43 a.m.

DarkLaw says... #41

So there are two possibilities here. Chandra's defeat is spoiled, or Chandra Forks him over with Liliana's Defeat.

Incidentally, English Liliana's Defeat:

June 16, 2017 11:51 a.m.

Zaueski says... #42

Well, Bolas' strength cones from his mental dominance over others... And Jace when he was at his strongest couldn't contain her mind, i forget which card it is but its on a flavor text... I just dont want my girl Chandra to die

June 16, 2017 12:52 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #43

She's not going to die, but she is going to get burned hard

June 16, 2017 12:57 p.m.

RazortoothMtg says... #44

Is getting every Defeat spoiled except for Chandra's some kind of sign? I think maybe she will blow up Amonkhet and leave as Bolas is distracted.

June 16, 2017 1:01 p.m.

Argy says... #45

Chandra doesn't care about getting burned. That's just another day at the office.

I want to see her blow up SOMETHING ffs.

Come on Zippo Tricks McEdgelord, you can do it!

June 16, 2017 1:09 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #46

Zaueski Not really. It might be the omnipotent villain trope, but he's better at everything than pretty much everyone. I didn't read the novel myself, but I read that he beat Teferi with time magic. He just uses stronger versions of people's magic against them for funsies, apparently.

June 16, 2017 1:18 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #47

Chandra's defeat spoiled:

Chandra's defeat

Instant

Chandra's Defeat deals 5 damage to target red creature or red planeswalker. If it was a Chandra planeswalker, you may discard a card. if you do, draw a card

June 16, 2017 2:36 p.m.

Zaueski says... #48

I'm glad there's nothing special and she got her part in the cycle. We'll see less Gatewatch but WotC won't kill them all off

June 16, 2017 3:06 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #49

Out of them all who got it worse?

Gideon getting pierced in the shoulder?

Jace getting a mental feedback to his head

Liliana getting....what the hell is happening to her?

Chandra about to get crushed by Bolas

Nissa getting choked by dead vines

June 16, 2017 3:24 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #50

Actually, what I delight in the most is the knowledge that these indestructible good guy stereotypes have lost in the most humiliating way possible, along with the future psychological stress this will put them under.

Or, put another way, Bolas is actually being written right. Fate Reforged didn't make a lick of sense.
