The Mothership

Note the new text for making tokens.

Oh man that wording is nice! I'm a bit iffy on the word "create" being used, but it's still cool.

"Create"... I guess it makes sense lore wise. Spells making creatures instead of moving them from one zone to another. But game play wise? I think it will confuse people. If I create something, will it come into play? Will it trigger Soul's Ascendant?

Why was this even necessary? To help new players?

The only way "create" makes sense is if we're bring back "summon" instead of "cast"

It's much less of a mouthful at 1/2-2/3 as many syllables.

I really do not like the new wording for creating tokens, as there is no reason for doing it; why does WotC keep changing the wording for this game? Some changes make sense, such as changing "comes into play" into "enters the battlefield," but there is no need to do this, just as there was no need to change "unblockable" to "cannot be blocked."

There's speculation going around that this new formatting has something to do with what is coming in Kaladesh. Not sure if I buy into the speculation, but crazy things have happened before.

Oh, it makes sense! You "assemble" a contraption and "create" a token. Maybe it's just speculation, but it seems likely!

Wait, are contraptions confirmed for kaladesh?

I need 3x Rise from the Tides for my joke of a standard deck. NOW!

I mean, the new wording also saves on space, especially on cards like planeswalkers where three abilities can cramp up the text. It's also not a bad word to use for the idea of putting tokens onto the battlefield (Like, I can't think of a better one, if you have to have a single word for it. "Spawn" sounds wrong for things like Soldiers or Knights or Elephants.)

@K34 - From Mark Rosewater's tumblr, regarding contraptions and Kaladesh:

"There was something that was a perfect fit, a mechanic Ive been trying to find a home for many years. Because of that, there wasnt the right mechanical space to also fit in contraptions.

I promise I will one day find a home for contraptions. It just wasnt in Kaladesh block."

If it wasn't kaladesh or Mirrodin, I wouldn't dare to guess where to put contraptions. Urza making a comeback?

Wtf WotC. Many changes. Such wow. Much disappointments.

Seeing what MTG players complain about never ceases to amaze me. Today must've been a slow day if this is why everyone is upset.

Slow day, huh DrFunk27, I think everybody's still reeling from the news EMN is searchable, lmao.

Atony1400 LOL I guess I should have added /s

For real though, it's not a big deal...it makes more sense anyways. A token isn't summoned, it's created. I think this is a great idea on Wizards part.
