He seems pretty good. Although Tribute can backfire if you really need the haste on him.

Not if you play him in a deck with exava, i'm not planning too. Just thought i'd point out that combo. Or other haste enablers.

But a 4/4 trample for three is pretty darn good. Even gives Loxodon Smiter a run for his money.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to include this card with my deck in particular, please take a look:

Schuesseled - I don't disagree, Fanatic of Xenagos will see Standard play. There is an article the mothership about Tribute and how in a 1-on-1 game your opponent will choose the mode which best benefits them. With Fanatic of Xenagos (I'll just call him FoX from now on) you either get a 4/4 trampler for 3, which is great, or a 4/4 trampler with haste and then a 3/3 trampler. While the two modes of FoX aren't too divergent, your opponent could screw you out of the quick damage you were hoping for.

I want to make a 'What does the FoX say' joke but that would make me a bad person.

A control deck will probably pay the tribute. In a Irindu though this guy is going to be beast. Either way though he's a good price for 3mana regardless what happens.

Tribute can be a bit of a double edged sword of course, anytime you ask your opponent to make a decision they are going to make it in a way that benefits them, the trick here is to make sure that cannot happen. i.e. choosing to play this guy when your opponent can only choose nasty stuff to happen to them, not when they have a way out of the situation.

The best thing about FoX to me, is that both sides of it's tribute ability are pretty similar, make him a little bigger or little bigger and faster all though for a limited time.

Aggro decks don't care about the long-term, as there chances of winning as the game lingers just get worse so FoX is really gonna shine for them.

Ultimaodin - I saw that when I decided to shorten the name, and I did chuckle a little bit inside. But don't let Vulpine Goliath hear you, it might get jealous.
