There were Sooooooo many hints linking bolas and egypt. for example, look at vengeful paraoh.

It has NB horns even with the "egg" between them. his scepter even resembles it too!

Also, in the newer art of Nicol Bolas in M13, you can see something similar to liek an egyptian beard.

looks like

Also, check out the header of Amonkhet

look at the giant horns in the background.

The horns in the background of the promotional art are a dead giveaway, and I figured it would happen with the new Archenemy: Nicol Bolas coming out next year. But that Vengeful Pharaoh art definitely dropped some serious hints. Nice find!

Jeez, and you don't think the line ""Rise Among the Worthy" on the plane of Amonkhet. Discover a world ruled by Nicol Bolas when the first set of the Amonkhet block releases April 28, 2017." from the announcement day was a big enough clue?

LeaPlath, what they're speculating is that a card from M12 was already hinting that Bolas was linked to an Egyptian plane.

LeaPlath: I didn't add the pyramid as a hint I just added because it is awesome and the horns look awesome.

Maro said that the Egyptian theme was on one of their lists of ideas and that Greek was and they based the Born of the Gods block off that.

Mark has vaguely spoiled what the next 7-8 years of MTG will probably entail as well as giving us good estimates on what mechanics will be reprinted. Like with Scrying being somewhere in the middle on the storm scale and a strong association (whether accurate or not) between Greek gods and prophecy, or in other words divination, it's not suprising that Scry was one of the classic mechanics they brought back for that block.

Looking at it that way if Kamigawa ever gets a revisit they will likely use Scry there again and scrap Ninjutsu and the spirit mechanic which sucked.

So with that in mind what mechanics have loose conceptual association with Egyiption relics, artifacts, history, and religion?

Wow, that is an awesome catch! If that is not a coincidence, WotC really does plan their products well ahead of time!

How likely is it that there shall be a reprint of Vengeful Pharaoh in Amonkhet? I would certainly like that.
