Courser of Kruphix was spoiled as one of the Clash Pack rares along with Prophet of Kruphix. Kinda bummed because I thought Courser was a decent spec. Oh well.

Can you give me the link to this?

ChiefBell says... #3

Wait so. Can someone answer how clash packs are different to duel decks?

July 7, 2014 1:07 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #4

Also worth noting that courser is a modern staple - he'll be going up slowly over time, not down. Regardless of short term reprint.

Servo_Token says... #5

If you remember back to various other core sets in recent years, there has always been a pack of 2 30-40 card decks that were semi-randomized, and included boosters that you were supposed to use to teach people Magic. This is in essence the same thing, but the purpose is to later be able to combine both halves of the pack into one deck to take to an FNM. It's like the battle packs and event deck rolled into one.

That prophet is going to be like $200 if they don't ban it in EDH.

July 7, 2014 1:18 p.m.

The artwork on those cards is phenomenal.

Seriously might buy 4 of these just for the playsets...

SkRiGeR says... #13

Man these are some really cool Foils in the clash pack. Looks like im going to have to pick up a few. I like that courser is in it, that will cut the cost of them down make them more usable to people. Prognostic Sphinx looks awesome compared to his creepy staring version as the current one.

July 7, 2014 1:22 p.m.

Where do I order? Jajaja

July 7, 2014 1:22 p.m.

I wonder if they'll be sold at Walmart like Duel Decks.

July 7, 2014 1:25 p.m.

DrFunk27 says... #16

Rasta_Viking29 I would imagine these will be printed very heavily so finding them shouldn't be a problem. Those Foils are freaking amazing. Although the Temple of Mystery looks like an FNM Promo.

Rhadamanthus says... #17

The M15 Clash Pack is in place of an Event Deck, and sets will alternate between the two from here on out. For example: Khans of Tarkir will have an Event Deck, it's first expansion will have a Clash Pack, it's 2nd expansion will have an Event Deck, M16 will have a Clash Pack, etc.

July 7, 2014 1:43 p.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #18

I get that the Clash Packs are replacing Event Decks (in alternating releases) but it looks like it plays more like a Duel Deck? Are we going to have both a Clash and a Duel out at the same time?

Also: want. Have they released the MRSP?

July 7, 2014 1:59 p.m.

pokeyrabbit says... #19

the MRSP is $29.99

July 7, 2014 2 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #20

So the clash packs have all those foils?

July 7, 2014 2:02 p.m.

pokeyrabbit says... #21

do you think these will stay at MSRP? or will they spike because i love the Prognostic Sphinx

July 7, 2014 2:03 p.m.

I need these cards. I have a prophet of kruphix deck that needs fancy foils of her. Right when my wallet started to recover from building the deck in the first place.

July 7, 2014 2:10 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #23

There's going to be tonnes of these things printed, so I don't think that any prices will be spiking. Aside from maybe the Prophet herself, because as previously mentioned, this thing is a must-have in every green blue deck ever.

PlattBonnay says... #24

So glad I sold all my extra Coursers last week.

July 7, 2014 2:32 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #25

wait, wait, wait. Do people really honestly think that this will affect the price of courser further than on like a 6 month basis?

July 7, 2014 2:33 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #26

This is great for me, especially if the Courser's price drops to around $10.

July 7, 2014 2:34 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #27

Also, do we know when they are released?

July 7, 2014 2:34 p.m.

TexasDice says... #28

Thragtusk was included in TWO Event decks and still stayed at 17-20 Dollars during it's year in standard.

This won't turn Courser of Kruphix into a binder rare, I predict nothing will change at all.

July 7, 2014 2:36 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #29

They're being released on... Release day... For M15... With the rest of M15...

July 7, 2014 3:05 p.m.

Wolfninja says... #33

The only things giving them value are the promos, Courser of Kruphix and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , both of which will drop big time once this comes out, so I doubt it will go over MSRP, or if it does, at most it would sell for $40 imo. I suspect Courser will drop down to ~$10 because of this.

July 7, 2014 4:33 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #34

I absolutely guarantee that courser won't decrease from $15. Report back in 2 weeks.

July 7, 2014 4:44 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #35

Courser has value because of it's usefulness, not it's rarity. This boost in supply won't decrease the value hardly at all.

July 7, 2014 4:49 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #36

Agreed. It's value is based on its playability - not its scarcity.

July 7, 2014 4:53 p.m.

SevenSeasAgo says... #37

If these are Walmart products, they should stay at MSRP. Commander decks can still be found everywhere (except for Mind Seize, but that's because the distribute the sets of five deck). Here, they'll just be distributing Clash Packs, so there will be plenty to go around.

July 7, 2014 4:53 p.m.

dat art .....Prophet of Kruphix looks smexy

July 7, 2014 4:56 p.m.

sylvannos says... #39

These look like they have great value in them. You get a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , Courser of Kruphix , Temple of Mystery , Hypnotic Siren , 4 Elvish Mystic , therspouts, Reclamation Sage, and Genesis Hydra? I might pick up four of these things....

July 7, 2014 5:34 p.m.

I'm might pick one up. Is this something to keep sealed for a couple years and then try to sell? Or just open and enjoy the foils?

July 7, 2014 6 p.m.

Ringleader that's what I want to know. Duel Decks which are similar to these are sold at Walmart and Target. Event Decks are not and these are supposed to be replacing those every other set.

July 7, 2014 6:09 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #42

I agree this won't affect coursers retail value, but it's actual value is a different matter.

July 7, 2014 6:37 p.m.

Wolfninja says... #43

Rasta_Viking29 Since these are replacing the Event Decks every other set, and Walmart/whatever other stores don't sell event decks (as far as I know), I don't see why they'd get these.

July 8, 2014 12:45 a.m.

sylvannos says... #44

If the goal of these is to teach new players the game, I would think WotC would want to sell this product to as many of them as possible. Most new players aren't aware of cardshops or how to find them. Seeing it in the aisle at Walmart would probably be a better sell than having players who already have some cards show up to the shop.

Event decks are more for people who need something to use at the local FNM, so it makes sense to sell them only at places that host tournaments.

July 8, 2014 5:59 a.m.

Wolfninja says... #45

"I absolutely guarantee that courser won't decrease from $15. Report back in 2 weeks." -ChiefBell

Well, it's down to $12.86 on tcgplayer, and still dropping.

July 23, 2014 7:46 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #46

They've fallen to about $12 - hardly a monumental crash now is it? Are you going to slay me for being about 20% out in my estimation of the future?

Most graphs are suggesting a plateau - that is to say that the decrease is stopping. So I was wrong in my lower bound estimation but absolutely won't be wrong that they'll promptly go back up due to modern demand. In fact the graphs seem to be indicating an oncoming recovery.

Honestly anyone who thinks selling this card any time soon is a good idea has no idea about any format except standard. This thing is like gold dust.

July 23, 2014 7:55 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #47

I dunno about you guys, but I figured they would drop at least a couple bucks so I sold my 2 playsets of Coursers when they were up at 18, now I'm just going to buy them back at 12-14.

July 23, 2014 8:24 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #48

Reasonable. How much did you make? About 30 or so?

July 23, 2014 8:27 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #49

Yeah something like that. Although I'm just going to to turn around and spend that profit on some more shock lands :p

July 23, 2014 8:29 p.m.

Wolfninja says... #50

ChiefBell Well, considering they were $18, i'd consider losing nearly a third of their value a pretty big drop. And the only reason I even said anything to you, is because you said that you "absolutely guarantee" that they wouldn't drop below $15.

PlattBonnay I started to trade off my extra playset as soon as they were confirmed to be in the Clash Packs, managed to trade a couple a $18 and a couple at $16.
