Cards that may be banned tomorrow

Let's start a discussion on what cards should be and may be banned tomorrow:

I think we can all agree Felidar Guardian is a likely candidate to be banned. If it is banned, it will not only end the combo, but will revamp alot of decks that don't play combo, but have cards in main or side that prepares for it.

Some suggested Gideon, Ally of Zendikar should be banned to damage Maru vehicles. While it is a good idea to do that, I don't see this happening till after Amonket.

Thoughts

Well, here's the deal:

Wizards said they wanted to push Planeswalkers in Standard, so I do not see Gideon, Ally of Zendikar seeing the ban hammer. I do see Felidar Guardian getting it, however, because the combo, by Wizards' own admission, caught them off-guard, and that will be a bit of retroactive fixing of that. The other card I see that might getting banned is Heart of Kiran, and that will be an effect of the Smuggler's Copter ban. Just dealing with the top two decks in the format, to hopefully promote diversity.

In Modern, some piece of of the Death's Shadow deck will banned, but not the main card. It is just my thought. Also, we may just see Jace, the Mind Sculptor unbanned if for nothing else than an experiment to see how the format evolves with that card available.

Beyond that, I really can't speculate too far.

EldraziTron is very popular right now and quite oppressive, so I believe it could raise some ban-attention. Death's Shadow-Jund idk... Traverse might get the axe.

I just have this gut feeling that Harnessed Lightning would get banned. It is in 4 of the top 8 strategies, as a 3 of. However, I'm not sure how Wizards feels about banning removal......

well... guardian wont be banned as the combo is pretty easy to disrupt, with pretty much all colors having a way to deal with it. standard should be fine, but I wouldnt be too surprised to see flayer banned. Modern... eh, i dont really know about that one. Modern seems relatively stable after the most recent ban wave, although it would be hilarious if they banned goyf and shadow.

Entrei It's not that easy to disrupt. Most combo players will have mana open for negate or some form of counter in their hand to increase their chances of pulling it off

do you notice that almost immediatley after the combo came out it started suffering in competitive? the combo is something of a glass cannon. Ive seen it crumble from things ranging from grasp of darkess, counters, and shocking saheeli

Its the threat of the combo that is the problem. Slows games to a halt.

I see Mardu Vehicles getting the axe before Copycat... Its the more oppressive deck of the two.

yeah but in order to cripple vehicles you would have to hit a lot

In order to kill catheeli you just need to hit 1/2 cards

Crippling vehicles would need to hit a lot of things, but to slow them down you can hit Heart of Kiran and it will slow them down 1-2 turns. I agree with Copycat slowing the games to a crawl, which is a bore and which will probably get part of the combo getting the axe, which I think will be Felidar Guardian, as I said earlier. The other card that could maybe be hit is...

Nothing.

They may just do nothing, which I see as a mistake. I really think something needs hit. I wish they would hit Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, because I see the card as so damn oppressive (to the point I am head-hunting the card) but as I stated before, Wizards wants to make the format more about Planeswalkers, so I just don't see it.

hopes for deadeye navigator to finally be banned in edh

I mean come on that damn card enables an obscene amount of combos

I don't think this banning announcement will have anything to do with EDH/Commander. This is for "sanctioned" formats by WotC...Standard, Modern, Vintage, Legacy. Commander is regulated by another body entirely.

If they're going to hit anything in Standard, they'll likely have to do the 3-in-1 punch of banning a card from the top three decks atm.

I'm guessing the cards would be Felidar Guardian, Heart of Kiran, and Winding Constrictor.

The copy cat combo itself can be disrupted, but its mere presence in the format warps what decks can be played. The argument that was applied to Emmy's ban is applicable here. Heart occupies the same exact place our dear looter scooter fell in before. And lastly, if those two decks got hit, we'd be left seeing nothing but GB all year. Ban the card that leads to the most obscene interactions.

I really hope that Winding Constrictor isn't banned, it's a cornerstone of standard counter decks, and more importantly, the standard deck I play the most.

Damn, now I'm gonna have to make a counter/energy deck or something to stay in the game.

Whats with all the talk of Standard cards to be banned? Banning in standard is super rare and they just did it. Is Standars so bad right now that you need bans again?

Deadeye shouldnt be banned from EDH because it enables a lot of combos, combo is a archetype and a legitimate way to play/win.

I hope Dig gets unbanned in Legacy. Jace in modern would be interesting

I think talk of unbans are way more interesting, even if they're less likely.

What unbans would fix which problems in any format?
