I can't tell if hypen-man here is trolling?

Lame_Duck says... #4

What the...? Why is Ajani's ultimate so much worse than Tezzeret's and takes longer to achieve?

December 5, 2016 12:11 p.m.

ThinkJank says... #5

That Tezzeret seems... oddly good for a Planeswalker Deck

December 5, 2016 12:32 p.m.

legendofa says... #6

I'm gonna call it right now: a significant event, possibly Story Spotlight, happens in the late afternoon. The obvious guess is that Ajani's going to join the Gatewatch. Check out the lighting on Teezy and the Ajani on the last page.

Bovine073 says... #7

Actually, hyphen-man here has a point. But only against noncreature decks/decks that run reatures larger than 3/3s, ironically enough. Having an LE is a har dthing to overcome and it does it well, but I am still quite skeptical. Maybe a post board card in some matchups to improve consistency without decreasing functionality.

Ajani, the Unshakable (soon to be replaced with Ajani Unyielding), Ajani, Valiant Protector, Tezzeret, Master of Metal are added if you want to brew with them!

Needs the flavor text from Skyfire Kirin :-)

Or maybe Celestial Kirin ...

Atony1400 says... #17

Anyone notice the art on Heart of Kiran? Wonder why the Kaladeshe have a strange fascination with flying whales!

December 5, 2016 4:20 p.m.

Atony1400 says... #18

I like this set's strong push on superfriends! After all, we're getting double to triple the amount of walkers per set than before we switched back to 2 set blocks...........

December 5, 2016 4:26 p.m.

monkeyprophet says... #19

G/W tokens got a new beatstick. T2 Heart of kiran, T3 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar crew with nissa counter then - 2 to get a 5/5 flyer on turn 3!

December 5, 2016 4:41 p.m.

OpenFire says... #20

The new Tezz and the Ajani, Valiant Protector are the planeswalker deck cards. I assume there will be a normal UB Tezz in the set. Heart of Kiran seems pretty weak. Copter it is not.

December 5, 2016 5 p.m.

I love the flavor of Heart of Kiran being named after Chandra's long dead father. Also, could this be a new Skyship Weatherlight for our intrepid planeswalkers to travel around the multi-verse in?

December 5, 2016 5:19 p.m.

clayperce says... #22

Oh derp. I totally thought it was Heart of Kirin :-D

Makes TONS more sense now. Thanks Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor!

December 5, 2016 5:52 p.m.

NarejED says... #23

This might sound odd, but I think I prefer the art of Valiant Protector to Unshakable. It might just be the graininess of the latter's spoiled card image, but it looks a lot lower quality.

December 5, 2016 7:26 p.m.

JohnnyBaggins says... #24

If you have no artifacts left in the deck, Tezzeret is a free shuffle every turn. That's extremely good with JTMS, Brainstorm and things like Top and Scroll Rack. The card will certainly see play in Commander at the very least.

December 5, 2016 7:30 p.m.

JohnnyBaggins says... #25

Also, regarding Heart of Kiran, I'm betting you Kiran isn't actually dead and that's his ship.

December 5, 2016 7:32 p.m.

Tortuous_TG18 says... #26

Tezz is pretty good for one of these decks. 6 mana is, like I said with Ajani, the Unshakable, hefty;however, I'm really looking at the -3... and WOW. That's relevant to Standard... like, almost TOO relevant. People will stock up on Tezz and start using BUR artifacts (or maybe G, seems it has a sort of Artifact population in it)

December 5, 2016 8:43 p.m.

Argy says... #27

Vehicles are going to be much harder to Crew with Yahenni's Expertise in the mix.

December 5, 2016 9:01 p.m.

Good board wipes don't make vehicles worse, they make them better. They completely avoid sorcery speed removal and when you play a creature next turn to crew them, it gives them pseudo-haste.

December 5, 2016 9:22 p.m.

griz024 says... #29

I wonder what the flavor/story reason is for heart of kiran's planeswalker loyal removal to crew option is? Ship powered someone's spark?

December 5, 2016 9:46 p.m.

Zaueski says... #30

JohnnyBaggins In Chandra's origin story she saw Captain Baral kill her father right in front of her. Sadly, he is dead forreal

December 5, 2016 10:26 p.m.

legendofa says... #31

Well, it's not entirely unheard of for dead people to get better... Kaladesh doesn't really seem to have that as a theme, though, so Kiran Nalaar, I suspect, is officially dead.

Argy says... #36

GolgariLeprechaun the problem is that you don't always play a Crew member on the turn after a board wipe.

You can still use lands to Crew, but I stand by my earlier statement in that you will have less options for Crew after a -3/-3 board wipe.

Convoke for artifacts and a new counterspell with a stifle effect tacked on. I can get behind this set.

December 6, 2016 12:09 a.m.

Bovine073 says... #41

So, there is only one Bolas Planeswalker so far. Does this mean we're getting anotherone? (In reference of Dark Intimatimations).

Also, it is the story spotlight 5/5 so my prediction for the lore is that Bolas will make an appearance at the end of the set or intervene with this revolution in some way.

December 6, 2016 12:25 a.m.

Zaueski says... #42

Damn, those are some cards I can get behind. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but Pia's Revolution seems like a new Daretti EDH staple.

I love the new counterspell... Definitely feeling the pull back to blue, I'm definitely going to make some kind of Grixis deck for the new standard.

December 6, 2016 1:16 a.m.

NarejED says... #43

Sees mention of Bolas.

It's official. Someone cut the break lines. There's no stopping this Hype Train now.

December 6, 2016 1:18 a.m.

legendofa says... #44

Disallow Voidslime

Pia's Revolution Athreos, God of Passage

Dark Intimations shades of Cruel Ultimatum

That last one is probably a deliberate reference.

Oddly, Disallow is different in the T/O database as of this moment. It's "Counter target spell. ~ deals 2 damage to target opponent and you gain 2 life." Any idea what's going on?

December 6, 2016 3:18 a.m.

legendofa says... #45

Ah. I believe I stumbled onto a custom card.

December 6, 2016 3:22 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #46

Disallow would be a playable counterspell in modern i'd say.

December 6, 2016 3:26 a.m.

Bovine073 says... #47

Not sure, it is three mana. I look forward to brewing in Standard with it (and I never play standard, lol). Mono-Island control is coming to town!

December 6, 2016 3:56 a.m.

Fugl says... #48

3 mana counterspell is normal in standard dude :) strict upgrade of Void Shatter / Scatter to the Winds.

December 6, 2016 4:12 a.m.

EpicFreddi says... #49

Well given that it counters a spell, a triggered or an activated ability, i think it's more than an upgrade for Void Shatter, even though it's 3 mana. But I'm not really a control players, so maybe I'm a little too optimistic.

December 6, 2016 4:23 a.m.

Fugl says... #50

I meant it takes over the 3 mana cmc counterspell, so in that sense its an upgrade to Void Shatter. It definitely feels like a counterspell fused with Stifle. Could be a staple. Modern playable?
