The title says it all, the card is this one

Wouldn't it be better to just play Tarmogoyf?

I'm still unconvinced about it but its possible that maybe something would run it.

No.

8-rack is better with no creatures.

Pack Rat can be an exception, as it helps you empty your hand to keep Ensnaring Bridge active.

This will just be unable to attack because of Bridge while doing nothing for you.

The 'Whispers of Emrakul' on the other hand... is just what 8-rack needed.

Affinity perhaps..? It's a 2-drop artifact creature, and the deck empties its had on T2-3...

Didn't read 'player' indeed :) but does it really have a spot at 2 CMC in affinity?

It slows down affinity imho. Affinity isn't really a deck that can be refined much more beyond what it is already. The best thing it can have happen is get the artifact lands back.

I was thinking Whispers of Emrakul as well when I saw this.

Honestly, in regards to whether Lupine Prototype could be seen in Affinity, I think it would have to be tested. It would depend more on whether you're going for the kill with all the little guys or if you'd rather swing with some of the more value creatures, like Etched Champion or an Arcbound Ravager or something. I could see it as a possible replacement for Overseer, just for it's ability to really put your opponent in a tough spot. He blanks (I think) every red kill spell, but it's just as susceptible to other forms of removal as your other creatures.

Lupine Prototype is a card you build around, but NOT in the way of dumping your hand to turn it on. Trying to get hellbent just to turn a 5/5 for 2 is a freaking horrible idea, and so is trying to fit it into existing decks.

What this thing is, is a cheap enabler. For what? Stuff like Fling. Stuff like turning on Ferocious. Stuff like Greater Good. I'm not saying the cards I listed are optimal. But the point is this cards job is NOT to smack people in the face for 5. It's to be a degenerate combo piece.

Myr Superion wins over this guy in any other format however.

Not sure whispers of emrakul is even that good in 8rack due to the difficulty in turning on delirium. The deck usually runs around 20 sorceries, 4-6 instants, 4 artifacts, 4 enchantments, no fetchlands. It's going to be REALLY hard to get 4 different card types in your GY when your deck is essentially only one card type.
