Magic in Winston-Salem, NC

Hey all,

Today's the big moving day. As I type I'm in a U-Haul truck with my whole life in the back headed from rural Kentucky to Winston-Salem. Obviously moving is accompanied with tons of questions, but the biggest question in the front of my mind is what is the magic scene like? Where's the closest game store? How competitive is the scene? Is Charlotte really the NC hub for all things magic?

If anybody from the area has answers to any of these questions please let me know. I'd love to go to FNM this Friday and potentially meet local Tappedout users. Thanks all.

There are a ton of stores in Charlotte which isn't too far from Winston. I'm from Charlotte, but I'm in Chapel Hill for college, and there's a huge store here called Atomic Empire. Winston Salem is rather small, and I'd be surprised if there were a big Magic scene there. Best of luck to you!

Awesome. Charlotte and Chapel Hill are a bit far to drive for an FNM or the like, but for a pptq/open it seems pretty reasonable. It's funny to hear Winston-Salem described as small because it's about 20 times the size of my old town. Thanks for your help!

Kit Kringle is a fairly new shop in Winston. It's pretty nice, but I don't go over there too often because I have other choices a lot closer to me. Lucky's, Mulligan, and Comic Dimension are here in Greensboro. Gaming Underground is in High Point. I feel like there's another new one in the Triad area that I'm forgetting.

Thanks Rhadamanthus. If I was looking to go to FNM friday within 15 minutes of downtown Winston this friday which store would you recommend? I like to play somewhat competitively.

Kit Kringle is out on Country Club Road. It's not too far away from downtown. You could probably get there in 15 min depending on exactly where in the city you're heading out from.
