Well hopefully since they were in a box vs a binder they were bulk.

Unless it is a box you store decks in. That would be horrible.

I once put a deck through the laundry, so hopefully there's no Snapcaster Mages in that box...

On the bright side, if they're sleeved and non-foil, you can iron out most cards and they can still be played decently. Those mages...now you can't even tell since they're sleeved.

My cat ate a Black Lotus and another card which I forget, both black border cards, when I used to play almost 2 decades ago. Luckily that was when I had several copies :D Wish I had them still at today's prices.

I was in the middle of creating a number of decks, so was keeping most of my cards in the one place for it. I haven't been playing for as long as many folk so don't have a colossal amount of cards and they can altogether just about fit in the box so long as I don't want to close it or anything.

I was really busy working myself up and crying and didn't really have a gauge for how bad it would be yet, but the cup wasn't full and actually the damage was much less than I expected. The cards were face up in piles and the rares were sleeved at the bottom where most of it pooled.

Some damage to my Karplusan Forest and Melek, Izzet Paragon but I suppose I should consider myself less unlucky than some.

So long, and thanks for all the .gifs!

My first year playing, my mom threw out a box accidentally. Something like 200 worth including 2 mutavault when they were cheap and some shocks. Nondescript cardboard boxes ftw.

My Jori En, Ruin Diver got a little warped as well and some damage on the back, but it's not really noticeable once it's in a sleeve. Apart from being warped, but that sort of comes with being a foil anyway. Seems to be the only non-bulk that's damaged.

So also thanks for all the horror stories. I could have had it worse.

Hey, there was a little quote from a pro football player, Cassius Marsh of the Seattle Seahawks, about how his (entire) collection of MtG was stolen from his car... he figured around $20-25,000? "been playing since I was 11".... Sucks!!

Worst ever happened to me so far was a previous Bulldog my family owned eating an artifact deck, spilling drink on another, but personally I have 20 finished decks and my advice is: "never bring more than 4 decks with you at any time!"

BTW, if I was famous, loved MtG & my last name was "Marsh" I would DEFINITELY change it to "Swamp" ASAP X D
