I've been trying to get my group into Pauper, and to get a Pauper FNM going. But people don't like getting into pauper for some reason it seems, I think they assume its a weak format. So im going to build a library of eight decks of which i can loan to people to get this all started. I'm looking for input on what these eight decks should be, so far I have...

  • Mono Blue Delver

  • UW Acid Trip

  • Mono Green Stompy

  • Affinity

  • Mono White Tokens

  • UB Creatureless Teachings

  • GW Slivers

  • GB Dredge

There are just a few of these I'm flex on. I like the majority of these, I am flexible on the slot of Mono Green Stompy and GW Slivers. What do you guys think? Any suggestions are welcome.

Note: I don't want to build Tron because It is twice the price of any of these other decks :)

Why not bogles? It might be a little more interesting than stompy

Mono BLACK control without Oubliette is still good. I have a Pauper Tron Deck and it is incredibly fun. RUG Tron and Izzet Blitz/Delver Fiend got me into Tron in the first place. I understand it is a bit pricier, but if you ever get your hands on the pieces, I'd highly recommend it.

I would also recommend Izzet Blitz/Delver Fiend over Mono Blue Delver. I feel the power level is better and more fun to play.

logansullivan That's something to consider

KIngWiggins Thanks for the input. Delver I actually already own, so that's a given haha. I don't really compare itself and Izzet Blitz because their game plans are entirely different. My thing with mono black control is that it is absolutely abysmal to play against, and I already have one of those decks...haha.

Note: I replaced Slivers with GW Gond Combo.

If you loan them the deck and they are not familiarized with the it, it might be difficult for them to run it successfully.

This is not a problem with easy decks, but I think that Creatureless Teachings is too different from what you expect in an usual pauper deck. It requires you to know which of your cards is best to tutor in each situation, and if you don't know the deck really well this may be very difficult.

Besides, it is extremely boring to play against, and you want all of your friends to have fun.

I suggest a Goblins deck. They are cheap, easy to play and very funny.

the7thDOF I think you underestimate the general player. Teachings isn't the most fun to play against but it is the most pure control strategy in the format, and for a control player they'll love it. Although the deck has a lot of decisions, I think a good player can play it well. I do agree with a goblins deck; I'm just trying to decide whether I should ban Goblin Grenade...may be too powerful.

Personally I think the U/B delver is more fun to pilot than mono blue.

Kuldotha is still one of the better decks in the format. And it's super fun.
