problem with MTGO

so i just downloaded mtgo and after playing for a while without any issues, for some reason the game skips my 1st main phase automatically and goes right into combat. does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you mess around with the holds? If you don't have a hold (the little tick marks along where it says what phase/step you're in) on something, you'll just skip right through it most of the time.

Also that's how you can stop on your opponent's upkeep or at times when you normally wouldn't want to, like if you wanted to use Vendilion Clique on your opponent's drawstep.
