So I don't have MTGO, but i'm curious as to how it works (if I do get an account i'll gladly play with you). Do you have to purchase cards with real money? Or is there an in-game currency? Do you start out with a pool of cards? Is there a way to transfer cards I have in paper to MTGO? Sorry, this isn't really the place for this but i've been wondering for a while.

It's been a LONG time since I made an account so I'm not entirely sure. IIRC you get like a random fatpack worth of standard cards to start with.

Entering an event takes Tickets, tickets are 1$ from the MTGO store so they are used as currency. So yes, you purchase cards with real money. However, prices are usually significantly lower than paper.

You can't transfer paper to MTGO unless you sell to a place like mtgotraders for credit. If you collect 1x of every card in a set though you can get that full set sent in paper by wizards.

They give you a pool of cards from a core set, but you purchase what you need/want from third party vendors most of the time.
