Did I cheat? (accusation on Cockatrice)

Online Magic forum

I'm putting this in Online because the incident in question comes down to what the other person saw in the chat box. I apologize if this isn't the correct place.

I was just playing against an Elves deck with my Blue Moon build on Cockatrice, and this happened in response to me casting Telling Time at the end of my opponent's turn. I was looking at the top three cards of my library. I believe he did copy all relevant information besides me looking at the top three.

[17:58:01] Opponent: wtf dude
it's top, bottom and hand
[17:58:10] ducttapedeckbox: that's what I did
?
I moved one to hand, one to top, and one to bottom
[17:58:32] Opponent: "ducttapedeckbox moves a card from library to hand.
ducttapedeckbox puts a card from library on bottom of his library.
ducttapedeckbox stops looking at his library."
nope
cheater, bye
Opponent has left the game.

I don't see how he could think I was cheating? I didn't put the last card on top of my library because it was already there. I'm fairly certain I did everything correctly, but I'm asking so that if I was wrong or wasn't clear enough, I know for when I play against people who are mature enough stick around and explain their accusations. I think he was just frustrated that I was countering every Elf he tried to cast, but I want to make sure...

well he didnt understand that by not moving the third card it just stayed on top. you could have rectified this by just putting the last card on top but you didnt cheat

You didn't cheat. The opponent was immature.

You put a card on the bottom and one in your hand; if the game didn't register that the remaining card 'put on the top' because it didn't leave the top of the library it's just a wording issue. You didn't do anything wrong.

This is why I don't use Cockatrice, but that's not the point.

I think you were just getting an opponent who was being salty. From what I've seen it looks like you did everything correctly, he was just being super sensitive.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. I could have moved that card had he stuck around. Not by any means bothered by this, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something..

@ JWiley129 - yeah, I try to avoid playing random people but this happens. Thankfully I can only remember it happening one other time in the past few months (Blood Moon, opponent Abrupt Decays it and Thoughtseizes another from my hand in the same turn. Next turn I draw another Moon, play it, and he leaves after explicitly sharing his frustration).

This is why I kinda got away from any online testers anymore. People can be big and bad behind a keyboard and talk whatever they want in cockatrice/hexmage/untap etc. If I had disposable income I'd switch to mtgo that way if people do want to get salty their rating at least takes a shot too.

At least he didn't spawn a token of every card in the game at once to purposefully crash your computer. I had that happen once. Pic to come

Keep a list of usernames you do not want to play against, and why you don't want to play them again. That is what I did for Untap, and it works pretty well.

Well you can block the immature people on Untap by by clicking on their name in the lobby and hit the block button. That's what I do sometimes.

Why can't people see that this is only a game. I mean most sites don't give you any money for winning, so what's the point in getting angry for losing.

The only thing to remember is that you shouldn't prolong the conversation if it seems to get out of hand. Just remember to breath, take a step back, and just block there ass! XD

No seriously, just staying calm is the best thing to do in these situations.
