But without flat out burning Thoughtseize how can i get a t1 discard for Stinkweed Imp ? (Planning on making an empty the pits deck)

Win the die roll, choose to be on the draw, draw for turn, do nothing, discard target dredge card

You just can't play in modern ;)

Blackmail yourself. Cry of Contrition , Funeral Charm , Horrifying Revelation , One with Nothing and if you're open for red Lightning Axe and Faithless Looting would be options.

Derkoch your suggestions pretty much go against my not thoughtseizing myself

Yeah sorry just realised what you meant. First reading I thought you just didn't want to spend Thoughtseize specifically. The red cards might be interesting though. One with Nothing could really up your delve but it sucks that you lose everything.

Not everything... All dredge cards will return to my hand lands can return with Life from the Loam

Faithless Looting is probably going to be the best bet.

It's a shame Breakthrough isn't modern legal..

The more colours the more Fetches you dump :)

tyforthevenom says... #12

not really... 6 fetches is more than enough when i can repeatedly cast Life from the Loam to get them back

Choosing to draw and not playing a land turn 1 is probably your best bet

i do doubt that's the best turn 1 modern has to offer

Burning Inquiry was my personal favorite in dredgevine. It also allows you to disrupt your opponents hand as well.

looks alright, though i'm not playing dredgevine and i want to have a good chance of getting my good dredgers into my gy (side note all dredge vine lists i've seen don't run many dredge cards)

I would definitely vote for Faithless Looting . Damn good card.

my original plan was t1 discard (hence the thread) t2 dredge and Grisly Salvage or Life from the Loam turn 3 Thirst for Knowledge and "super dredge" turn 4 pass turn and cast Empty the Pits end of opponents turn

While it doesn't dig as deep Wild Guess could fill thirst's role of you're up for playing red. Goblin Lore could also work but probably won't. While I love the idea I fear Emptying the pits is a one shot win con while not necessarily winning you the game.

Empty the pits is mainboard wincon, they side in gy hate and i can side in rock or rack instead

Hell i can run a partial zombie tribal deck in sideboard

IMO, if you're already playing Life from the Loam , play Raven's Crime . You can target yourself, then it gets into the graveyard so you can start targeting your opponent. Use Life from the Loam in combination with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to put them in topdeck mode while you being to dredge away.

If i play Raven's Crime then maybe i should use Dakmor Salvage
