Treasured find

Dude I'm surprised this card ain't in the books like

Gifts Ungiven

Terminate

Electrolyze

Abrupt Decay

It's actually a very underrated power card. It can push a lot of badass combos. It has it's own combo with Unburial Rites and really a lot of good uses. I think it needs to get on more junk lists at 2-3. What do y'all think?

To hand is just never as good as straight to the field.

VampireArmy says... #3

also it exiles itself...so it can't be reused

Doesn't matter not too many ways of cycling grave in magic right now. Or finding a loop with it best case was nyx weaver but it removes its self. I also think the fact the it removes it self makes it look a little kooler when u throw it to ur exile pile rather then ir grave. Pretty neat.

Exactly I went unburial rites -> hornet queen -> treasured fine -> unburial -> siege rhino, then next turn flashback for second rhino.

7 creatures two cards

Why not use Eternal Witness and get a creature out of it?

IndepenentMeta says... #6

I run both their both pretty great.

Witness into lands is pretty boss

Treasured Find isn't the best card, but it sure does attract a lot of publicity because of its somewhat sexualised artwork.

March 27, 2015 1:47 a.m.

It's not underrated. It's just a bad card when Modern has access to something like Eternal Witness.

It's actually very underrated especially if people really think that way bout the card. In way I'd prefer running playset of treasured find over playset of witness. It cost one mana less so it could give u some room to work with. But don't get me wrong I love witness too. I've been able to pull off some bullshit because of her. Witness->liliana->unburial rites->siege rhino

March 27, 2015 2:34 a.m.

Some pod players missed out on teching 2x of these for pod recycle or monster spam. It's prolly a 10/10 in my book idk maybe I play differently

March 27, 2015 2:36 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #11

Eternal Witness is better because it's a single colour and you get a 2/1 + with a bit of extra effort, you can reuse it.

March 27, 2015 2:37 a.m.

Even thou it's two color u have to admit its not very hard getting those two colors up in a junk deck. Or a BG deck. And although you can't reuse it it is a pretty good at four which is somewhat of a reusable ability.

March 27, 2015 2:43 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #13

In a BGx deck, you don't want to be playing either Eternal Witness or Treasured Find.

March 27, 2015 2:52 a.m.

I wouldnt know what the mainstream build for bg would look like. You would have to show me a demonstration... As for my own BG I'd run those in a flash

March 27, 2015 2:55 a.m.

Instant reanimator something like this man you never know

March 27, 2015 3:02 a.m.

MollyMab says... #16

It is a 2 colour sorcery. This means it is much much more vunerable than eternal witness.

Witness is 3 mana. Double Green. 2/1 body. It is a creature so it is much more recurable. It used to be podded or chords into. It is a much more difficult spell to deal with.

Find is 2 mana. G/B. It wants to be cast later. It only trades itself for another card. It cannot trade 2 for 1 like Witness can by blocking. It is less recurrable. You can't find it in a pinch. As well as being counterable by everything E wit can be countered by, you can also counter it with Spell Snare, which is very very relevant.

The real issue is that witness can just be cast and be a 2/1, even if you don't get a card back due to leylines/RIP. This means it trades with snapcaster, ooze unbuffed, bob, vor, etc.

Obligatory gif for another thread that makes no sense.

Yeah basically theres too many better cards with similar abilities for it to be usable. Its a mana specific sorcery thats is gone forever after you use it.

So this weekend we were playing for a box of modern monsters and I got to second place running one of the most non pro viable decks in the format. Bestow night child. The deck ran satyr wayfinders, nighthowler, treasured find, grisly salvage, along with 4x copies of child of the night. Now that right there spells out horror for some of you Internet pros. But to everyone's surprise I made it to the top 8 table. I mean who would've guess it midrange builds had trouble getting pass my walls and destruction spells. I had some thoughtseizes a friend let me borrow and over all a pretty good tournament. I mean if you guys really think its that bad don't run it. But I personally think treasured find could be extremely viable given to the right person with the right answers available

March 27, 2015 12:51 p.m.

No, that doesn't spell out horror that just spells out that you play casually with a noncompetitive metagame. Which is perfectly fine and viable. Also, no one here claimed to be a "pro" hell I wouldn't even claim to be a good player. However, I am perfectly capable of assessing the strengths and weaknesses of a card and your anecdote does nothing to prove that Treasured Find is good in an objective sense. Now, is this thread done?

March 27, 2015 1:20 p.m.

Regrowth is strictly better. Of course it's not Modern legal but hey whatev, it's still one of my all-time favorite cards.

Treasured Find wouldn't have gone in pod because you couldn't pod or chord into it. Being able to chord into a witness to bring back a path is a fun combat trick. That was the

There's nothing wrong with (not the tribal...) rogue decks. They can really take people out by surprise. There are generally reasons for some of the "internet wisdom" about deckbuilding though. Like, End Hostilities for example. Sounds like the deck you ran was big on dropping a critter and enchanting / bestowing it? That can be a fun theme, and the UW heroic decks can be somewhat similar in the process. But one End Hostilities and unless you have something like Mortal's Resolve you just lost everything (the resolve only saves the critter BTW). Sure, you can run 4x Mortal's Resolve, but what happens when someone casts Silence the Believers?

The other hand of it, being able to know when people are going to not be running the answers to what you want to do, can have the biggest risk / reward spread

Modern Monsters. lol

Eternal Witness does the same, can be blinked, and gives you a creature. Not much else to say.

fluffybunnypants Total and utter respect.

March 27, 2015 11:21 p.m.

I utter end my friend like 5 times with treasured find super funny then I played against the modern token event deck N beat it 2-1 idk what y'all r talking bout my tech choices r boss

March 28, 2015 2:33 a.m.

Those are pretty Kool combos man but I'm sure treasured find has it's own stuff it could pull off

March 28, 2015 2:34 a.m.

Jay says... #26

The modern event deck sucks dude. Beating it 2-1 is far from impressive. It's the magic equivalent of an easy bot.

If you want to use a bad card for fun, ok. I occasionally use pet cards in my decks. However, that does not make a bad card good. Comparing it to the likes of Abrupt Decay is just downright dumb. There are many more effective ways to recycle cards.

Consider this: in a vacuum, this card does nothing. Turn 2, this probably does nothing. Casting it anytime other than a top deck battle is basically throwing away card advantage. Witness you can abuse with the Cryptic Command lock, AEther Vial, etc. Or just get a desperate blocker/attacker. Why run this to return good card instead of just running more good cards?

March 28, 2015 11:18 a.m.

It works

March 28, 2015 12:33 p.m.

In other words it's your pet card that you want to use even if there are more effective cards for the spot, it's understandable for a player to want to do that however you should be willing to accept the fact that from a competitive point of view cards such as Eternal Witness are strictly better due to offering more card advantage as they are both providing a new card to the board with lasting effects in the form of a creature, while Treasure find simply returns you a card and adds nothing else to the game state. What would you be running Treasure find in place of in a deck as that spot could easily be taken by another copy of the card you want to get back/ a card with either a similar or same effect to the card spot it is taking, or simply a card that does the job of Treasure find while providing more such as Eternal Witness.

March 28, 2015 2:15 p.m.

@ Jay

I love the eternal command lock.

Lel @ "It works."

March 28, 2015 3:09 p.m.

Cant pull it off not my problem...

March 28, 2015 3:13 p.m.

Pull what off? A card that Exiles itself?

In what deck do I need BG sorcery-speed spell recursion, once per card?

March 28, 2015 9:48 p.m.

6tennis Don't encourage him man...

March 28, 2015 9:49 p.m.

6tennis says... #34

?? I'm just asking. Like, spell recursion is good, but Treasured Find is waaaaay to slow, and for its effect, it's just a whole package of no. In Junk, MAYBE as a 1of for a thoughtsieze or an inquisition of koz.
