Meta question (s)

Few weeks back I was thinking of a black white deck, that would play the superfriends route. Last time I played a style like that was 2 years ago. I was told the whole restoration angel/ wall of omens is not what it used to be and is some what waste of space. Is that true? Is that due to meta shift? When I played it it seemed to interact pretty decently, specially a two drop wall that blocks early aggro and draws you a card. Can some one explain why it's not great anymore? I used to play that in an old Boros super friends (before nahiri/emrakul was a thing)

So is it do able.... mind you I'm not looking for a deck going 5-0, not going to complain but 4-1 and happy with the deck is what I'm looking for. Just looking for some knowledge on why those two cards are not really played anymore... thanks

Well it's never really been tier 1 deck and Death and taxes decks that used to play cards like Wall of Omens and Restoration Angel has fallen out of favor. Probably because of fast aggro decks in the format like Humans, Mono G Affinity and other decks like that which all are pretty bad matchup for those white based tax decks. You can still play your Boros Superfriends i have no doubts but you just have to learn new meta matchups all around so you know what you are doing against these new decks.

Kiki-Resto seea play (sorry W.O.O.), but the meta has shifted. Lot's more aggressive stuff like 5-C Humans and RB Vengevine.

I personally think it'll be fine, you just need to tailor the rest of the deck a little differently to how you would've 2 years ago. As others have mentioned, there are some pretty aggressive decks out there at the moment which might cause you problems. So just ensure that your grand plan has ways to deal with these threats.

It also depends on your local meta - where I play taxes decks do pretty well, so there's not really too much of an issue. Have a gander at what your local groups are playing and use that to gauge what you're up against.

I'm not here to talk about deck lists, as there is another subforum to post in here about that. My question with out getting into lists here is with those two working together, obviously it's in paper every time the game will go turn two wall, and turn four end of turn restoration angel, target wall draw ect. But the thing is I want to make it do able inns black white or black white red super friends deck. Is that too much going on in one deck or is there better cards in the meta for that purpose.

That feels like too tricky a question without seeing the decklist. I mean, it should be fine but we have no idea what other shananigans you’re running, other that some planeswalkers.

6ixer, the only reason i can see your friend saying it is old news is because modern is pretty fast currently. Midrange has a tough time against many popular decks atm. I have a solid midrange modern build that is pretty obnoxious in casual settings, but at FNM against 5 flavors of RDW, Tron variants, and super-ramp its "just ok".

Soo the meta is faster than two years? Jund and junk midrange used to be great

Not saying theyre not now it's just I'm seeing lots of aggro and combo. Yeah your tron is still out there and control too I just don't know how to interpret this/the meta lol. I don't expect to go 5-0 at a local event but hey if I do .... sweet lol

The meta abaolutely got faster. Midrange decks where pretty dead for a long time. Mardu pyro was the best midrange deck for the last couple of months. Note that GB midrange might get more popular now because they got assasins trophy.

If you want a fun deck and you loke BW superfriends you can certainly give it a try it wont be very strong but also not terrible
