Looking for A New Idea

Modern forum

Hey Guys, It's me, Prima.

I just wanted to gather some ideas for a deck that I want to build in modern. Recently, on the request of my priend, I built a viable, working Grimoire of the Dead dredge/reanimator deck, and I loved making such a fringe deck. In standard, I built another fringe deck, Azorius Token/Control/Tribal, and it is also working very well. So, I wanted you guys and girls to give me some ideas, possibly for a card interaction, certain card, color combination and strategy (like maybe Dimir Aggro, or other weird combinations of strategy and color), or other thing.

Thanks for your help!

Dimir aggro? Those are strange colors to go aggro with... you could try running Phyrexian Obliterator as a primary win condition, Creeping Tar Pit and Vampire Nighthawk as other pressure cards, and use some Mana Leak, Remand, Liliana of the Veil, and Go for the Throat to control the board. Like a cruel control/beatdown deck. If you wanted some cool graveyard interaction, you could add Bloodghast and Tasigur, the Golden Fang along with some Dredge cards. Dark Confidant might go well in that deck too.

Oh, and don't forget your Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek as your catch all answer to any threat and ideal turn one play.

Dimir Unblockable?

Also, Cruel Control is the archetype that wins through casting Cruel Ultimatum. Noot any control deck.

Oay. Let me re state it. (In a different way, just for clarity sake.) The Dimir aggro was an eample of a deck you don't see every day, that is not going to be my final deck.

Outright dies to burn. And where Helix Pinnacle is concerned, that only works in EDH (and it works well at that). That dimir tempo ish outline might actually make a surprising rogue deck. And I've seen some decks (assault loam for instance) win via Dark Confidant beatdown. I think there's some potential there.

If you do Helix Pinnacle you should def run Gilder Bairn.

Then maybe splash blue for Inexorable Tide and other proliferate cards, and run Ratchet Bombs. Blue would also give you control//counter spells to make the game last longer.

If you can find an infinite mana combo, you should be able to get your Helix Pinnacle going - but it would require probably 4 or more cards...

Any single cards that would be cool to build around? Or any combos?

A combo I thought about for a while was Zameck Guildmage with undying creatures and a beneficial sac-engine, something like Blasting Station. There are probably other cards that take +1/+1 counters off creature in exchange for other benefits as well.Ooze Flux ? ehhh idk

Or you could go the opposite way and do Power Conduit with creatures with persist, which is probably better cause you could remove a -1/-1 counter from one creature and put a +1/+1 counter on another creature with a -1/-1 counter on it (thus cancelling out) and both creature would gain persist again. Just need a cool sac-engine...

Or Zameck Guildmage with persist creatures for infinite saccing.

Go prowess tempo with protection grants. Gods Willing, Valorous Stance and Emerge Unscathed do quite a bit of work in stopping the meta.

I really liked your deck TheAlexGnan. I think I'll try to change it up a bit, maybe take out red or blue, or maybe even both?
