Know any ''Oh Sh*t'' cards?
Modern forum

I'm looking for cards that are just like... Oh shit... when you see them. But within a good mana range.
Such as:
or
Or perhaps these aren't freighting enough for you, I would like to know what is threatening now days.
Also, what singular cards best "WRECK" blue counter decks or white token decks other than Thrun, the Last Troll? I am aware of some cards but its like... hard to word search in magic because there are so many variations on how things can be worded.
things that can live for a long time too, like how thragtusk drops a token. wurmcoil engine is like that but it can be [[path to exile'd.
THANKS!
Tarmogoyf? Tasigur, the Golden Fang? Norin the Wary (the only creature in the game 100% immune to removal and usually indicates mass lifegain shenanigans)?
Unfortunately, Swagtusk and Thundermaw are too expensive to really work in Modern, I'm afraid. I'll leave it to players more versed in modern to find better answers to this question.

thing is, everything can be Path to Exile'd or Abrupt Decayd and that's the end of them (or countered). I dunno...
So far I am drooling over Kolaghan's Command. That's like AMAZING card advantage and options.
things with some sort of presence like tokens when they are removed or something upon entry. At least do something before they get removed no matter what.
I am only being argumentative to dig, no offenses meant

Modern legal card that makes me go "Oh Shit!"... Blood Moon... So much for my stupidly expensive mana base... Can we just skip to the next game now?

Norin can only be killed through split second. If someone casts a Path to Exile, he leaves the battlefield. Granted, he can't attack, can't block, can't be buffed....

There are plenty of ways to kill Norin... just not many competition viable ways

I was going to say Stasis but then I checked what forum this is in.
I would say opponent + 2 open Island

@JA14732: Goblin Sharpshooter, Gelectrode and so on, Avatar of Woe, AEther Vialing in Bone Shredder... In short: activated abiities kill Norin alright. But yes, none of these is really competitive.

JA14732 I'm pretty sure split second only prevents non-mana activated abilities and spells. Norin is a triggered. Norin the Wary, Krosan Grip. Yep.

As for "oh sh*t" cards, I personally like casting Griselbrand with some Birds of Paradise and Sylvan Caryatids in R/G Aggro/TnN. I've done it.
I personally play 4 Birds, 4 Caryatid and a Xenagos, the Reveler to make my Thragtusks and Primeval Titans work in my R/G Midrange deck. I've had cards like Xenagos, God of Revels to swap for cards like that. Tangent, no one expects Emrakul + Xenagod off of Tooth and Nail in Goblin Guide CoCo aggro. That's how my old list was, newer list is better, but still soooooo fun.
So my list is this: Thrun, the Last Troll, Sun Titan, Griselbrand, Xenagod, Keranos, God of Storms, Thragtusk, Deadeye Navigator, and my favorite; Mirror-Sigil Sergeant.

Idk, I mean... Baneslayer Angel has been sweet in the sb of my Esper Control deck. Oh, you sided out your removal? Baneslayer? XD
I've killed so many people with Baneslayer alone.

Sigarda, Host of Herons is pretty great if she resolves.

Oh my god, all of these stupid 8th edition artifacts and enchantments. Blood Moon? Choke? Worship? Ensnaring Bridge? I 100% with BBD on banning the shit out of 8th and 9th edition.

Sigarda, Host of Herons, Phyrexian Obliterator, and Sundering Titan are the 3 worst IMO.

Voice of Resurgence. Nothing makes me go "OH FU-" quite as hard as Voice of Resurgence.
If I happen to be playing a counterspell-heavy blue deck, I'd say Vexing Shusher and Thrun are the worst creatures I expect to see.

Keranos, God of Gas. I like that. Haven't heard that before.

If you judge a card by the fact that it dies to removal, than you're doing it wrong.
"Bolt-range" is the only acceptable bias in some cases.
April 18, 2016 12:25 p.m.
TMBRLZ: it depends. When we're talking about high-cost creatures, the "dies to removal" argument is perfectly reasonable. Tapping out to play a big creature only to have it killed by 1 or 2-mana spells is essentially the same as giving your opponent a free turn. Having someone Lightning Bolt your turn 2 Dark Confidant is fine, but losing a turn 7 Atarka, World Render to Dismember is not. Tempo matters.
(By the way, I used Atarka as an example because it was the first high-cost, no-value, dies-to-everything-but-Bolt creature I could think of. I know no one plays Atarka.)

Lol I was about to say, if you're playing O.G. Atarka you're already doing it wrong.
Fair logic though.

I rly hate my Turn 34 Emrakul dying to a Path to Exile, square711.
:(
April 18, 2016 1:42 p.m.
(Emrakul has protection from every color.. so i doubt Path to Exile hits it XD)
Cranial Plating; Phyrexian Obliterator; Athreos, God of Passage; Lord of Lineage
Flip; distribute as you wish burn spells, like Forked Bolt, and its big brothers.

Most of the cards in decks do that. Liliana of the Veil, Tarmogoyf, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Kolaghan's Command, Siege Rhino, all those things. Seeing Phyrexian Unlife, Viscera Seer, or Goryo's Vengeance also commonly elicits that reaction, because it usually means you're going to be on the receiving end of a combo kill sooner rather than later.
