How Many Ways Can You Play Each Dual Color?

Modern forum

Hey everyone,

So I started making this little guide to inspire people about the different paths you can take with each of the dual colors. I was hoping to get some feedback and possible more ideas to fit into each of the categories. What I really want are ideas for Simic especially, since whenever I see Simic decks it's only about Evolve and not much else.

I believe The Amulet of Vigor combo is simic. Also should BW tokens be included in Orzhov?

Simic isn't massive in modern. You can run a pretty good temppo deck though with Snapcaster Mage, Tarmogoyf, Delver of Secrets  Flip, Remand etc.

Whoops! Yeah Izzet should be sorry about that

@SkyRaider42: I'd be down to look into that! Thank you for the suggestion... do you know of any cards that combo well with it?

BMpatrol: Bounce lands like Simic Growth Chamber in conjunction with Summer Bloom and Azusa, Lost but Seeking, generally with four Primeval Titan. It's a tier 2 archetype in modern, and the deck that Matthias Hunt played at pro tour BoTG.

Is extort big in modern? I was really thinking about making either a deck or artifact affinity deck but I'm not sure which would be more effective on a semi budget. also has tons of tokens

@OP_Magikarp: extort deck can be very friendly on a budget. It focuses a lot on Thrull Parasite, Basilica Screecher, Tithe Drinker, Crypt Ghast, runs a bunch of control (even stuff like Condemn or Vendetta, then the win con should be either some angels or huge kill spells like Debt to the Deathless or Sorin's Vengeance.

Artifact Affinity usually gets you into the higher costing cards because of how popular it is. If you are willing to spend the money, the artifact affinity deck is the way to go. Otherwise, you can always try out Orzhov.

Not to mention you don't have to go Extort, Orzhov aggro can be very strong with cards like Edge of the Divinity, Gift of Orzhova, Dark Favor, Tormented Soul, Tithe Drinker, and Nightsky Mimic.

Any room for Rhox Faithmender in modern? Or just not worth it.

@OP_Magikarp: Oh yeah forgot about him, he's actually really important I would definitely have at least 2 in an Extort deck.

Also forgot to mention that Alms Beast is a must for Orzhov Aggro.
