Is the archetype no longer a competitive option in today's top meta? I watched Scapeshift loose to Bant eldrazi and elves on youtube. Does this deck have a chance against the popular deathshadow deck?

I think the thing with modern is that every deck has its bad matchups without sideboards (which is one of the complaints of the format at times) but at the end of the day its all about how you pilot it and how you sideboard for the bad matchups so I'd say its viable but you need to know what the meta you are going into looks like

Realistically? No. Death's Shadow is too fast. Honestly, combo, including scapeshift and titan shift are mostly dead in the water against jund, death's shadow, affinity and infect even with an optimal opening hand.

I have been hearing that infect is loosing popularity. Death's Shadow has won lots of big events ever sense Fatal Push Liliana, the Last Hope released. I like control/combo decks just being honest.

Depends on which variant you are talking about. The blue versions featuring Cryptic Command and usually Bring to Light are very weak, as Cryptic and Remand much worse than they used to be.

RG TitanShift is much better, as it has slightly favorable or even matchups against Eldrazi/Tron decks, as well as being reasonable against Death's Shadow. With the right sideboard cards, that matchup can be very good.

@GlistenerAgent I want to play a RG variant because my lgs is loaded with tron and I can assume eldrazi.

Then you should be fine. Titanshift is a very competitive deck right now.

The decklist above is pretty close to the current stock RG Valakut list, so I'll second it as being a good starting point. There are a few flex slots in main and board but they're not the most expensive cards so if you don't already know the archetype well I'd start there.
