Now that hour of devastation is revealed, what cards are you looking forward to the most for modern?

Personally, I'm not too thrilled about the set but do like Firebrand Archer as a Guttersnipe jr.but better and more playable.

What are you looking forward to seeing and playing?

I personally am looking forward to Solemnity in a Xur EDH deck with some wild combos. The overall set isn't my favorite, (Hour of devastation), but it is better than some of the recent expansion sets.

I'm excited for Ramunap Excavator as a budget substitute for Crucible of Worlds, as well as Swarm Intelligence and Wildfire Eternal for my Jeleva EDH deck.

Hour of Revelation and Hour of Promise seem decent in EDH as well. This set definably caters to the EDH crowd.

As someone who builds a lot of commander decks (more than I actually have a chance to play half the time) I'm not in love with the set honestly.

A couple of cards I could swap things out for and a couple fun new commanders. I just went through and made a wishlist for this set and it only has 7 cards on it :/

It does look like a blast to play in limited though.

I really like the idea behind Nimble Obstructionist seems like a good card to slot into a control deck at least in the side.

Finally a modern comment! Haha.

It is a really cool concept, Oloro_Magic. It could really hit on some of these combo decks. The only negative behind it is the CMC I think might make it fringe. But I wouldn't be surprised if it stick in the sideboard. The card draw definitely gives it an extra push off the cycle-counter.

Rhonas's Last Stand might be interesting in a Green stompy variant of some sort. It's not a deck I play, but I would expect someone to try brewing with it at least. T1 Noble Hierarch, T2 Rhonas's Last Stand, using one of the mana from the dork so that only one land won't untap. Not sure if it's worth it or not. Probably not, simply because you can have a t2 Leatherback Baloth with no drawback.

Ramunap Excavator seems to work well with Knight of the Reliquary and is fetchable with Chord of Calling. Not sure if it's worth it, but it could be interesting.

InnerFlame I for one can see myself slotting Nimble Obstructionist into control.

I think Uncage the Menagerie has some sort of combo potential, although I've by no means solved that card...just imagining green stompy, though.

And maybe some Aftermath tech like the RB one that reanimates a 2CMC creature for 1 could make an appearance in Dredge, Delver, or something similar. 1 mana to reanimate a Snapcaster? Yes, please.

I think Claim / Fame will almost definitely see play. Even willing to say it may accidently get deaths shadow banned (not asking for it but it's a good card that fills a flex spot or 2 in the deck.)

I think Tragic Lesson is a really good card that went under the radar. If you haven't played a land you can bounce a swamp for the land return part and then replay it with a fatal push follow up now that revolt is triggered.

I know some people are speculating Hollow One is a sleeper but those expectations are relying on street wraith a lot which I think is gonna get hit if wizards wants to screw shadow some more.

Lastly I'm a huge fan of Hostile Desert I think it's the sleeper in the set for powerful cards in a world of fetch lands.

Also agree with some of the other ones mentioned. Like ramunap excavator, rhonas last stand and solemnity.

Solemnity will be fantastic for staxy types & Zur of course. There are a lot of fancy options for Bolas colors... Neheb, the Eternal is pretty sweet.... Although, he feels overpriced CMC-wise considering his lack of durability, feels like Grenzo or lower-CMC, higher durability Purphuros are still the more obvious choices for mono-red commander. I'm guessing Neheb, the eternal might be more of a solid roster option for the library rather than prime commander choice (although I still will make a Neheb deck)

Or any combo deck that needs to buy some time and runs blue, Oloro_Magic.

I could see it getting broken in the future somehow, landofMordor. Although the search part of search for X of X I think might hold it back.

Claim / Fame I'm sure will see play dan8080. Will it get shado banned? Nah. I don't see it happening. Nothing in that deck is a problem. They'd be more likely to ban the problem which in this case would be Claim / Fame. Unless they decide they don't like to ban new cards for reason which I could see.

Like I said I think the decks fine (biased though cause I run it) if shadow gets banned eldrazi Tron will basically own the format I think. If anything gets banned it should be the wraith. But again I think the format as a whole is fine.
