Could birthing pod come back?

I know it got the hammer originally because it was a consistent and resilient combo deck. Is it still too consistent for the meta?

God, I wish, but I highly doubt it. Pod is a "fair" combo deck, like Splinter Twin was but even fairer, meaning it's both hard to interact with and also doesn't automatically fold to the combo being broken up.

You can see that fringe "cheat on mana" decks like Eldritch Evolution and less-fringe fair combo decks like Yawgmoth are still viable. Add Pod to those strategies and they're quickly broken.

Also, Pod is one of those cards that just gets better and better as WotC prints more cards.

That's my thoughts, but I'd love to hear a dissenting opinion! (Seriously, I'd love it, let's bring Pod back and get degenerate :D)

It's a possibility, but if it comes back, there is a chance of homogenizing every Green Creature Combo deck, possibly pushing out multiple fair creature decks. Every vaule deck suddenly has a silver bullet tutor plus consistent combo at very little deckbuilding cost. Any deck foucused on getting 2+ creatures into play gets more consistent and more resilient. It might not happen, but it's like I said. If WoTC decides that chance is to high, pod won't make it back.

It was banned because it limited design space. I dont feel like it'd be as powerful now with all the mainboard answers; the same goes for Splinter Twin. Modern has been in shambles due to Oko and urza only time will tell but birthing pod definitely proved to be problematic back in the day I dont think it'd be as powerful but i doubt wizards wants to have to always consider interaction with this card so my guess is no it wont come back any time soon.
