Blood Moon hate for Grixis

Modern forum

I'm toying around with making a Grixis deck for modern and wondering how I should prepare for Blood Moon. The first thing that comes to mind is Engineered Explosives but I wanna see what other options are out there too. Mostly because it's only really effective if I play it pre-moon or have enough basics.

My advice is to have enough basics and fetch for them whenever possible if you're scared of blood moon.

Assuming you're on Grixis Control, make sure your basics consist of 3 Islands, 1 Mountain and 1 Swamp. Having 3 Islands is very important as Cryptic Command is one of the few ways you have to remove a Blood Moon that is in play.

About hating out Blood Moon: Play around it. Leave up mana to counter a Blood Moon, and be more cautious when using fetchlands or casting spells during your main phase. I wouldn't waste sideboard slots on beating the card. Engineered Explosives is a strong option that is useful in other mathups, so if anything play that.

fluffybunnypants, that thought actually crossed my mind. Then I thought screw that I don't wanna spend enough to make a four-color mana base :p

Also when I thought more about that I wanted to drop red and just make a rock deck...completely nullifying what I set out to do

Nah, you just attempt to set it up like the Legacy version.

@PrecintSix6Six: That's what happens to me every time I try to make a non-Rock deck. I guess that just proves Rock deck is best deck.

vault, I've never played it so can't say for certain, but it's on my list of I'll-get-around-to-it-sometime-cause-it-sounds-awesome stuff :p One of my favorite three decks for sure.
