Aristocrats Started Here

Modern forum

So I see a lot of people lately making attempts to and/or acting like they're geniuses because they have developed "Aristocrats" in Modern.

People realize that's where it started right? Was originally called "Abzan Ascendancy." Standard just finally had enough decent cards to do it. Zulaport Cutthroat over there and his Blood Artist identity crisis.

You all can thank THIS BELGIAN FELLOW for that stroke of genius.

I was under the impression it started in Inninstrad-RTR Standard with the cards Cartel Aristocrat and Falkenrath Aristocrat, hence the name of the deck. Certainly the deck you linked doesn't pre-date that Standard format.

He's right. Aristocrats started in INN-RTR standard, NOT BFZ/KTK.

Uh yeah it was an ISD/RTR standard deck as lame duck said. It was a deck a full 2 years before Abzan Ascendency was even printed. If you are going to try to be condescending you may want to fact check.

Don't get me wrong, I think we've definitely seen a resurgence due to some new cards coming out, and the new decks tend to not run that many actual "Aristocrats." The Abzan Ascendency versions are clearly better than the old stuff.

Yep I played it in Standard back in the day. That was a good deck. Now it just means B/W/x sac-aggro/midrange.

It's called Aristocrats because of Falkenrath Aristocrat and Cartel Aristocrat. How can you think that it wasn't developed till now?

As someone who played during INN-RTR I can 100% say that Aristocrats was born then. How you can even begin to think otherwise astounds me.

Aristocrats was a very old standard deck like others have said. I played it back in the day.

Perhaps research before you post 'factual' information.

I'm gonna guess successful troll was successful.

On a related note, I miss playing Gravecrawler.

Can't help but lol at the perfectly ironic blend of condescending tone & ignorance of this post.

I'd have taken that out too. Pretty strange way to troll.

Ever heard of Zombardment? it was a legacy aristocrats deck before anyone even attempted to port it to modern and even before Khans even dropped, people like me were trying to make it work. Hell i even wrote a primer on this site about it once (since scrapped because too lazy to update it) and that was like a year or so ago. Nice try though:)

TMBRLZ - bitch please. Fucking amateur hour over here. First, decent trolls don't come back to the thread unless thy intend to instigate more anger. Second, your subject was weak sauce. Go back to Facebook and learn to troll better fool.

November 20, 2015 1:30 p.m.

...why are you teaching him how to troll...?

"decent trolls don't come back to the thread unless thy intend to instigate more anger."

Based on your response I'd say I'm doing a fine job.

This is probably a ruse where a guy tried to be smart but failed - so is now claiming it's all a troll attempt. I mean, that could well be the case.

November 20, 2015 4:05 p.m.

Based on some research, I would say that you're right Chief. The comments at the bottom of the page are especially interesting for someone who claims to have knowledge about Modern.

Yes sir Mr. Watermelon.

Very nice work being able to read my comments.

Quite impressive detective work you sluper seuth!

November 20, 2015 5:33 p.m.

Can you advertise some of my decks too TMBRLZ?

November 20, 2015 5:43 p.m.

So, with one comment, I managed to shoot down a troll AND get some free advertising. I should make a living out of this :)

November 20, 2015 7:11 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #28

Shooting the troll requires making the troll feel bad doesn't it? I mean I'd feel pretty awful if I got shot.

I'm down to do some advertising though.

But yeah sure I had no idea about ISD/RTR.

I was just bored at work yesterday and being labeled a troll was too fun to pass up.

You guys win!

Free doughnuts for everybody!
