American Twin in Modern?

I BUG twin a while back and didn't really enjoy it too much. With that said, I didn't give the deck enough time and I probably didn't enjoy it too well because I just lost almost every time with it. I almost never play blue or control, so it was a new style of play for me and my local meta just squashed it; however, american control has always appealed to me and the whole idea of twin just intrigues me still.

Now that I'm a bit more seasoned and patient with decks, I am wondering if American Twin can be a thing. I mean it sounds good in theory, right? You have access to cards like Path to Exile, Sphinx's Revelation, Geist of Saint Traft, Lightning Helix, Supreme Verdict, Rest in Peace, Celestial Colonnade, Leyline of Sanctity, Stony Silence, Celestial Purge, Wall of Omens, Restoration Angel if you want to go that route, and possibly Ajani Vengeant. Like it seems decent in theory, right? The reason Evil Twin is good is because it Tasigur keeps up with Tarmo Twin...well it seems like with everything white has to offer, those cards really wouldn't be as much of a problem letting white keep while possibly giving it more against other decks.

It's a thought that hit me a few days ago and it's an itch I'm almost dying to get to now; but, I don't want to itch a bad itch.

I had a Jeskai Twin list for a while, and used Dragonlord Ojutai as well. It was only an okay list, and would need a lot of work before it was really strong, but I felt like there was potential in it.

I can see how Dragonlord Ojutai could be good in twin TheHroth. Right now I'm just struggling with balancing the american control with the twin. All decks that I can find for reference want to use Restoration Angel and no Geist of Saint Traft, are pre-"yeah Serum Visions and Blood Moon are good", use very few Sulfur Falls, and really just lack draw in general.

Dragonlord Exarch - Jeskai Twin 2.0

I have this list that I've been tinkering with lately. What are your thoughts on it?

UWR twin is by far the worst twin variant. Not really worth putting any money into

TheHroth: You're deck seems to be similar to other american twin decks; they usually play just mainly for the combo. I like it; but, I'm looking for more of a control build.

Why do you say that xlaleclx?

I've played a ton of twin over the years and UWR isn't well positioned right now at all.

Here's a quote from a Pascal Maynard article
"If you are looking to play a better beatdown version, play green. If you are looking to play a better control version, play black. If you are looking to lose, play white.

This might be a little drastic, but the reason to play white is Celestial Colonnade, and it just doesn't fit what Twin is supposed to be doing. You dont ever want to tap out to activate it. You dont want to Path to Exile your opponent so that he or she has more mana to keep removal up or cast multiple spells in the same turn and make your Remands awful."

You could play UWR Kiki control, which has the infinite Kiki/Resto combo. You also get to play the control game, and apart from the 2 Kikis, the individual card quality is very high, meaning you can play well without them.

Right now I'm tring out izzet twin with a white sidebaord for Leyline of Sanctity, Rest in Peace, and Stony Silence. I was trying mainboard american twin with Path to Exile and Geist of Saint Traft, but it didn't do one thing well.

I may try out kiki control here soon.

America Twin also allows access to several more Twin combos:

Midnight Guard + Splinter Twin

Village Bell-Ringer + Splinter Twin

Restoration Angel + Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker

Midnight Guard+ Elemental Mastery

But America Twin also is very strong. Ajani Vengeant gives you a lock-like card so countermagic is harder to hold up. Lightning Helix is also a very powerful card, so a 2 of would work wonders. The sideboard plan looks good, and a back-up Celestial Colonnade plan looks good too. The sideboard cards look great too, with Stony Silence, RIP, Supreme Verdict and other cards.

If you're looking for control, you could build control w/ a Splinter Twin transformational sideboard.

You definitely shouldn't be playing any of the cards listed in those combos :/
