Recently playing with Sai, Master Thopterist in standard, i see potential for it in modern, and fit so well in my playstile, then i brew this base, to slam big creatures and amounts to attack:
Sai, Artifact Assault
Modern*

I'm undecided on what route to take: 1)Tron base for fast assemble 2) Normal UW mana base for acess mor spells to side/main.
Appreciate any tips/feedback wich route and on cards choises.

The Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry combo also seems to have a place here

Xica Sai is not to good with the big boys, Kuldotha Forgemaster are. Then with cheap artifacts we can gain time making thopter (with chump blocks, draws) or get fast 3 artifact to sacrifice for kuldotha and stay if it in game.

SeekerofSecrets if put the combo, assume the normal mana base looks better then, right ? i guess i can try it too =)

yea I would play the normal UW version, I'm also not a huge fan of the Kuldotha Forgemaster plan with this rout and instead would focus on tempo elements combined with cheap cantripping artifacts to quickly cycle and build a large board presence.

SeekerofSecrets: Kuldotha Forgemaster can get the bigs from deck from surprise, idk i like Forgemaster so much hahah. Large board presence was that's what i thought when try this build. with amount of thopters make Master of Etherium big and Etherium make fly presence big too.
Did you say tempo elementos like counters too? Path's? Mishra's Bauble?

I tend to lean toward tempo lists so its just personal preference and I know that tempo list with the foundry combo are somewhat viable! I'm fairly biased but I do know that the more synergistic that you get the larger the chance that you'll have dead cards in hand/on field. So i Would either go pure combo feel like kci or tezzerator like or more value/tempo. but I don't know if I would try and mix the 2, especially in a metta this linear and aggressive

Ghirapur AEther Grid and a bunch of cheap cantrip artifacts?

I know this is a U/R deck, but MTGgoldfish did a budget deck for Sai this week. The deck played fairly welll too. Here is the link for reference. They went with the Kuldotha Forgemaster route.

Why is Sai, Master Thopterist good with big artifacts?
If anything i would have guessed that he is best when played with cheap artifacts that ar cantrips if it can be arranged. Maybe try a combo with Mox Amber & Erayo, Soratami Ascendant/Erayo's Essence... (since sai is legendary too).
Maybe spells like Thoughtcast, Reverse Engineer, could help the deck with consistency.
