A spicy Sultai Infect brew (and some minor variants) made a bit of a splash last week on MTGO:

  • CHILLINGLAUGE, 5-0 in Competitive Modern Constructed League (8/11/2017).
  • IIXXJCXXII, 5-0 in Competitive Modern Constructed League (8/8/2017).
  • IIXXJCXXII, #24 at MTGO Modern Challenge (8/6/2017).

Think this is just a one-hit wonder? Or is it the start of Infect's come-back tour?

Tom Ross is playing Infect on SCG Open and doing pretty well. So maybe infect isn't dead yet.

Yeah, I heard The Boss made Day 2. Very cool!

And it was never really dead. Just disappeared ...

Here's the video from SCG Richmond Day 1.

Round 4 (Infect vs. UW Control) starts around 3:19 and Round 9 (vs. Jeskai Control) is at 8:40

Those new lists seem sweet. Disruption shoal is some totally sweet tech. I love the high cantrip count to go with it - adds some consistency too.

I hope this new infect style catches on. And too bad the deck doesn't have gitaxian probe still. That would be so good in there.

I think it's a clever innovation. I'm not quite convinced the deck will return to the ranks of the tiered, but this version definitely looks playable. Having a lineup with 100% built-in evasion is spicy tech, as is moving on from Glistener Elf - that card was never going to live long in this meta.
