Suicide Zoo's weaknesses are decks that are faster than it.. I.E. Affinity and Burn for the most part or attrition decks than can grind it to a halt such as Jund.
(So glad I dont even have an Abzan deck in my meta, or a true burn deck.)
The problem I have with this current sideboard is the large amount of space dedicated just to burn and the lack of better affinity answers, and much worse other matchups..
Specifically Tron and collected elves/slivers. All 3 of which I should be faster than..
I would like to have:
- Stony Silence or Kataki, War's Wage for affinity and other artifact matchups. Though I feel without the body strapped to the inferior one I may be hurting my decks competence.
(I dont like the idea of siding Mishra's Bauble when stony silence comes in.. as this deck often needs to draw a few extra cards.)
Feed the Clan for burn as the two card Hooting Mandrills + Nourishing Shoal requires of course two cards and only blanks 2 bolts.
An additional Pyroclasm for elves and affinity/other zoo.. additional Ancient Grudge, dropping one (or all) Hooting Mandrills which may be a bad decision.
The recent version Ive found on MTGtop8 runs Faith's Shield which could affect more than just burn matchups and actually has synergy with the deck.
So the proposed sideboard would be:
2x Stony Silence/Kataki, War's Wage
2x Abrupt Decay
2x Thoughtseize
2x Pyroclasm
Known matchups:
-Tron/Boggles(hes selling it, got wrecked for not reading Engineered Explosives.)
Standard Burn
Fish
At least two Affinity decks.
Three Sliver Decks (2 are Collected Company.)
One Collected Elves deck.
One Maze-Titan deck. (Build like BloomTitan without the karoo lands and amulet.)
Potential Bant-Sisters Rogue deck.
Carl, whose got one of those coco-sliver decks and may or may not still have his Abzan Liege deck.
Bloodchief Ascension tribal-pyres..
ect.
Should I side for these Land-Combo decks or just concern myself with the decks that draw and playout as fast or faster than me?
