Nimble Obstructionist so far?

So Nimble Obstructionist is one of the only cards that got me excited lately.

I'm a big fan of Ponza (clayperce PONZA POWER!). I really love the idea behind Blue Moon too, and with the reprint of Ancestral Vision coming up I'm thinking about making a switch.

I'll buy in a Vendilion Clique or two but I was wondering about Nimble Obstructionist . The card seems great on paper and I'd like to have the advice of anyone who's been playing it and what he/she thinks of it?

Do you think it'd have a spot in Blue Moon?

Thanks!

PS : I linked Obstructionist properly but it won't appear... so click here just in case

Nimble Obstructionist appears to work just fine for me...

In any case, I absolutely think it has potential in a Blue Moon style list; it's a flash flying threat that can also be a solid disruption card, cutting your opponent off mana from fetchland activations, preventing an Affinity player from moving counters from an Arcbound Ravager, etc. Do you have a specific list that you're considering adding it into?

WizardOfTheNorthernCoast,
Thanks for the shout-out and the kudos to Ponza! Unfortunately I have no opinion on Nimble Obstructionist. Sorry, mate!

I think it's absolutely hilarious. I've played against it in a jeskai flash style list and it performed really well. I'm not quite sure what it does for Blue Moon though, since blood moon already turns off fetches.

I've been playing Obstructionist in a U/R tempo list, and while it's been fun a few times, it's just too clunky to make its cycling ability worthwhile on a consistent basis. Spending 3 mana (which is probably an entire turn) just isn't a cost worth paying to counter the vast majority of abilities in the current meta. If affinity or storm became more popular I could see it, but otherwise, Clique is just much more effective in essentially any given matchup.

Although my knowledge of Blue Moon is extremely small, so it could be an all-star in that shell for all I know.

I played it as a fun-of at a PPTQ in Grixis Shadow. It performed fairly well. I was able to counter some Snapcaster Mage triggers in the late game to be able to protect my key components.

And before anyone asks, I got 2nd so no it didn't screw up the lists. I had to play something because I was missing a Fatal Push.

Thanks all for your replies!

clayperce I guess you don't know much about Blue being a dedicated Gruul player :D just wanted to make some extra advertising for Ponza ;)

Moonbar I don't only see it useful vs fetches. It can be if you get to Spreading Seas some basic lands and then deny Fetches activations mid/late-game. It just seems useful overall and I bet some of us on T/O have some crazy stories using Obstructionist (such as golffore297 explained how he 'countered' Snapcaster).

KingTorg1 thanks for sharing. I feel like Clique is better in many situations too. There's just this part of me that wants to use fringe cards and surprise everyone :)
