Living End Players, Assemble!

Modern Deck Help forum

So a brief bit of backstory, my friend (AztecMB) and I were looking for ways to change up his modern Living End deck. We looked through his binder for interesting additions and came upon Flayer of the Hatebound. We got to thinking, if we could somehow bring this guy back along with all the cycled creatures we could do a one shot kill and skip combat altogether.

So, Flay the Living came to existence with that premise in mind. We needed ways to quickly get the Flayer into the graveyard without messing up the Cascade, so we decided on Collective Defiance and Dark Deal. The problem is, we lose out on a number of cyclers, so the deck does become less consistent. I guess the question in the end is - does the one shot kill potential, or the crazy burst potential provide enough of a benefit to lose out on the consistency?

Any help would be appreciated, especially regarding possible replacements for Collective Defiance and Dark Deal

i dont think it is a great idea but if it works it would sure be a blast. too bad Buried Alive is not modern legal.. :D

i think puting in flay the living would take a space in our hand when we could have drawn a cycler. and dig for pieces in our deck. that is why this deck is so consistent because it actively digs out the deck for the combo..

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't think Flayer of the Hatebound works with Living End as the creatures enter from exile -- not your graveyard.

Curses! Defeated by reading once again! Thanks for pointing out the exile part of Living End, I'd have never noticed. I'll try it with Ogre Battledriver instead. It'll be even less consistent of a kill, but who knows?
