Ideas for a semi-competitive Modern deck

Modern Deck Help forum

I am looking for a deck that I can play at me local game tournament and have a decent win rate. Ideally I want a deck using the colors B/W and or U, but I am fine with any color combination except green. Currently I am working on a Grixis Bloodghast deck however it hasn't been that great. I can create a deck list and link it to this thread if anyone wants to see my idea. Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.

What budget, do you like controlly decks or more aggro based, and what is your meta like?

Dredge loves Bloodghast, but if you are looking for something a little more out homebrewy you could try B/R Madness Vampires. Flood the board with lots of removal and threats like Lightning Axe and Fiery Temper and the Jund all-star Olivia Voldaren. It also features the colorshifted Lightning Helix that is Alms of the Vein. Not to mention madness is super budget too. Anything that isn’t a land is usually under a dollar.

If you wanna brew, ive been thinking about a deck around Training Grounds, Pack Rat, Tasigur, the Golden Fang and other good creatures. Im currently working on a esper brew around Painful Truths and Glory-Bound Initiate that i plan to buy to play at fnm

If your not looking for a home brew, death and taxes, uw control and grixis shadow are meta decks that fit those colors.

Let me know if you decide to try your hand in a home brew! I love tweaking decks

Best decks you can build featuring Bloodghast are B/R Hollow One and Mardu Pyromancer. Madness Vampires could be fun but its not going to be very competitive, mainly because you're going to end up with a Burn variant that isn't actually as good as Burn.
