I'm considering mainboarding one or both of two Gideon planeswalkers in my U/W Control as win conditions. The two I'm considering are Gideon Jura and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. I'm also mulling over whether Gideon of the Trials deserves a spot. What do you all think?

It really depends on your meta. Personally, I don't think you should run any of them because they die really easily and you want to waste resources protecting yourself, not your walkers.

...I'm running a kind of janky-B/W superfriends list that switches between midrange and control strategies- the deck survives a lot of unfair matches simply because of the Gideon of the Trials his only weakness it seems are cards like Path to Exile that get around his indestructibility. However, the thing is you have to run multiple variants or copies of Gideon as to keep the emblem from faltering so it is a more...all-in kind of build around card. IF you do not want him, if i'm to be honest I am more partial to Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. As he is harder to kill due to his producing chump blockers AND upticking his indestructible beater mode. Take a look from my deck and you might get a useful idea or two- B/W Call the Walkers! Magic Aids - if not just link me your deck and I can further give you some input.

The only one I'd play in regular U/W Control is Gideon Jura because he does everything you want. He soaks up damage via his +2, blows up annoying creatures, and is a 6/6 indestructible wincon.

I haven't used him in a long time though, because Keranos, God of Storms does a much better job. Even that is kind of iffy when it comes to making room.

Planeswalkers are still popular and finding their way into top 8s regardless. The mix I've seen over at MtG Top 8 for plain U/W has been:

0-2x Elspeth, Sun's Champion
1x Gideon Jura
0-2x Gideon of the Trials
1x Jace, Architect of Thought

I'm currently considering the following walker package:

Gideon of the Trials is apparently quite good.

For context, here is the untested deck I'm toying with: Modern Azcanta Control. It's pretty stock standard based on what's currently being run in paper and online though, so not tons of innovation. Only questionable card in the list is probably Glimmer of Genius.

I played esper Control, esper gifts unburial, and esper super friends. I always started with 1 Elspeth, 1 Jurra,2x Jace artiect of thought before anything else, sometimes dropping one Jace to add a second jurra the rest is really dependent on the style of deck

@ArchonBlue - Your decks is pretty bad, tbh. Please take a look at the list I linked. It is very standard. It's going to get you on the right path.

@TheDevicer my deck is pretty much the same as yours how is it bad haha. Only main difference I see is that I run my Spreading Seas sideboard and Wall of Omens mainboard.
