I know you control purists are in here somewhere. Show yourselves, post your decks and ideas. What have your results been? We need to stick together in this trying time.

I've been running a relatively typical build, but I'm going to test out 4x Spreading Seas in place of Think Twice just to see how it goes.

Yes, more of a think tank on options for esper control against the meta and matchups.

I wouldn't recommend the switch. Think twice is awesome and really helps stretch your game if you read up in the primers for mtgsalvation there's a long piece about why 4x think twice is the norm.

I think if you're set on Esper you could also try Esper delve or Esper death's shadow. Which use discard to get through rather than counters. But are a little more midrange than pure control.

I got a couple different lists I can post later if you need reference

I'm really only interested in pure control, tbh. It may not be the best deck, but control is what I love. I've only gotten to test the Spreading Seas in three matchups so far, and it hasn't been bad. First was against Abzan Company/Combo, where I got to hit their Gavony Townships and disrupted their turn 2/3 plays taking them off double white etc. I beat it 2-1. Second was against Merfolk, which it ended up being really important, hitting their Cavern of Souls every time they laid one out. Beat them 2-0. Third was against Eldrazi Tron, which is self explanatory. I lost to it, it was too fast. I'll be testing the Think Twices next, but I definitely wasn't disappointed with the Spreading Seas.

I currently don't play modern but would like to move in to the format and control is my favorite archetype, so I would love to follow this thread and possibly get some links to deck builds, tips on the best/ most cost efficient counters and finishers etc. if anyone has any tips/opinions/builds I would be interested in seeing and hearing them I would also like to start at least somewhat budgeted but build up later. Thanks in advanced and sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this sort of question.
