Dimir pre-innistrad

Modern Deck Help forum

So been playing for quite awhile(12 years or so) but was mostly casual and a little standard. Started playing modern awhile back and I really enjoy it. I have a very good zoo deck that works well at my lgs, but it does get blown away sometimes and I can live with that. I want to make a new deck and have it be dimir as I have a few good staples like lands, fatal push and the like. Every decklist I can find runs either 4 snapcaster or 4 glimpse the unthinkable and 4 cryptic command. I was hoping someone might know of a pre innistrad competitive decklist that I could use for some inspiration. I dont mind spending a little money for some good cards but playsets that run more than $100 total is out of my range. Any help will be appreciated. I just want something in dimir that is somewhat competitve and isn't going to bankrupt me in purchasing. Thanks

Well modern didn't really exist before Innistrad. Modern came out in August and didnt have any major events till later while Ksd came out in September.

Dimir as a deck has Mill, Control, Faeries, Delver/Deaths Shadow as its main options. But due to the way modern is at the moment it isnt a very deep colour pairing.

In all honesty, you are not really gonna be able to build much. For it to really work, you need those expensive cards. Control in general is pretty expensive.

Esper I believe is pretty good, and if you feel like a more aggro-control style, I have this:

I have Esper, I have a Delver, Uh, Esper Delver

UB doesn't really have the tools itself, but pairs quite well with another color, but all of the color combos cause it to be decently expensive.

The only real pre-Innistrad UB list is Faeries, which is pricey. There really isn't anything else besides that.

I appreciate the efforts. I do have good lands to go esper and grixis I was just kind of hoping something semi viable exsisted. If it does help I dont care if it isnt a control deck. If I could run midrange, aggro or even some kind of janky combo deck I would. I was tinkering with a rise from the tides deck idea but I feel like it will just get blown apart in modern.

Sorry to post again so soon, but I may have found a little bit of something that could work. I have Prized Amalgam and Gravecrawler in play sets. I was doing some browsing and it seems there are a couple legendary zombies that are either rakdos or grixis that might be viable. I am considering a zombie deck based off the idea that I can cast a looting spell and get the zombies with free recursion in the yard, and then bring them back in the cheap. An ideal turn sequence would be like turn 1 Faithless Looting discarding a Gravecrawler and a Prized Amalgam. Turn 2 cast Tymaret, the Murder King. Turn three cast gravecrawler from the grave and get Prized Amalgam for free. Any thoughts?

Dredge exists and does that better.

I think that zombie deck could work well. You can always just build mid range b/u with removal and good creatures
