Best colors for a "2-for-1 Tribal" deck?

Modern Deck Help forum

I loooove value-based decks that overtake the game by gaining incremental advantage over my opponents.

So what are some of the best colors for self contained 2-for-1 cards?

At first I was thinking of a mono black deck running things like Wrench Mind, Gatekeeper of Malakir, Ravenous Chupacabra, Mind Rot, Liliana's Specter, Sign in Blood, etc.

Are there any other particular color combinations that I should look into? I generally prefer 2 colors since I don't own many shocks or fetches.

All tips appreciated!

Gatekeeper of Malakir is an obvious 2-for-1. You could mix up with red for Abbot of Keral Keep and Blightning, both of which are 2-for-1'ers.

White has great options. Not as many self-contained, but Wall of Omens or Blade Splicer plus Flickerwisp or Restoration Angel turns the game in your favor pretty quickly.

Great suggestions so far. I may consider stretching into red but outside of some ETB artifact destruction I don't see many other good creatures in red.

As for the Flickerwisp ETB stuff, I actually already have a green white ETB flicker deck that uses all those cards, and that's what inspired me to make another value deck. So trying to make something different this time.

Tin Street Hooligan is just a Shatter with legs... but getting 2/1 creature for free is pretty good. Goblin Ruinblaster could be good too.

Apart from creatures, red also has Bonfire of the Damned.

Here's what I have so far. Let me know what you guys think. I had to add a couple non-2 for 1s just for consistency / early game plays and Phyrexian Obliterator for a strong win con.

Look up old Jund lists from Shards of Alana standard —- Jund was (and is) the king of 2-for-1. Broodmate Dragon, Siege-Gang Commander, Bloodbraid Elf, etc. it’s good stuff.

Update:

I've changed the list a bit and am very happy with the results.

New list: Mono 2-for-1s

Sideboarded the Obliterators because I totally forgot that Gonti, Lord of Luxury is not only a thing but probably my favorite 2-for-1 of all time.

Swapped 2 Bolts for 2 Terminate, switched Bonfire of the Damned for Anger of the Gods and sided Rakdos Charm because graveyard decks were giving me trouble.

Otherwise this deck is running surprisingly well, taking down some "better" decks like Jund, Lantern Control, Gideon Tribal, Ponza, Bant Flicker, and more.

So there you go, kids. Having every card in your deck producing extra value turns out to be pretty strong.
