This is the Modern-specific advertise-your-deck thread!

Modern format rules

Here are the rules:

  1. You may link one of your decks in each of your posts. Do not list more than one deck per post.
  2. When you post, you must offer feedback on the deck posted immediately before yours (leave the feedback on that deck's page). This feedback needs to be genuine; "Cool deck" replies don't count. Try to be as helpful as possible.
  3. You may not post another deck in this thread again until a week after your previous deck post (by the day, not the exact minute). This is to make sure that other participants have a fair chance of getting some attention.
  4. Do not post unrelated comments in this thread. Leave the deck discussion on the deck pages. Additionally, don't comment just to subscribe to this thread. Use the subscribe button at the bottom of the page.
  5. This thread is stickied and does not expire.

When you share one of your decks, you should offer some information about what you want it to do, what specifically you think you need help with, etc. The more information you give people about your deck, the better the help you're likely to receive.

You're also encouraged to use the deck-large format to make your decks more visible:

[[deck-large:Dominus-Dreamcrusher Edition]]

While you're here, check out these recommendations for other ways to get views on your deck.

If you're feeling up to it, you can also try to write a primer for your deck.

This is a dumb deck idea I had, revolving around drawing a bunch of cards with the new legendary demon Demonlord Belzenlok.

Hey Icbrgr

I really like your take on a Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded deck. Making him viable was a task I have attempted once and failed miserably at. I understand your distaste in Delirium and Madness effects too because they are just terribly inconsistent since you're going to be discarding at random with Tibalt. However, I can't help but feel that something like Flamewake Phoenix could earn a spot in here. I know you want to keep the deck mono-red too, but Claim is a really fun card to recur your creatures. It's really funny when your opponent decides to take 4 from Vexing Devil and you follow it up with a Claim to bring it back.

Also Flyboarg,

Try to offer some advice on the previous deck before you post yours. First off, Tangle is not modern legal, so you should cut that and perhaps Fog would be an appropriate replacement. You can also cut down on some lands especially since you're running Birds of Paradise. Typically, sitting between 20-24 lands is a healthy number and I would recommend cutting Mosswort Bridge altogether as well as a single Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx since you don't want multiple copies of it in your hand considering it can't cast any of your creatures without already developing a board state, maybe add another Birds of Paradise in its place and then add forests for the rest of the lands. I don't think you'll need Evolution Charm and you can instead add more copies of Commune with Nature. You could probably get away with cutting Juvenile Gloomwidow altogether unless you feel like flying is a big issue in your playgroup/meta since it only really serves as a blocker, and if so just bump up your two-cost copies to playsets. Hope this helps!

Hello, i'm looking for help with my mardu rites deck. It's a reanimation deck that uses faithless loothing and cathartic reunion to discard gearhulks and sharuum the hegemon to combo them together for reanimation.

At the moment, i'm undecided between Artizan of kozilek and inkwell leviathan.

1# - Don't use basic mountains. Blood Moon makes every nonbasic into plains, thus you should run Plains & swamps + your non-basics. Otherwise you will leave yourself wide open to that enchantment. And it will deny you from casting Unburial Rites from the graveyard (while making Lingering Souls into something like Krenko's Command). Fetch lands help you as they can act can get you to your basics if you get them on the field before blood moon

2# - If you want the ability to reanimate non-artifact creatures, there are candidates that are a lot stronger, like Iona, Shield of Emeria, Griselbrand, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. And for reanimating artifact creatures, there are better reanimation spells like Trash for Treasure

3# - You MUST have some way to answer graveyard hate. Luckily there are plenty of option in mardu colors, that accomplish this, i mean cards like Wear / Tear

4# Lightning bolt is not a removal spell. Sure sometimes it can kill creatures. But we are living in the world of Thought-Knot Seer, Hollow One, Gurmag Angler & Thing in the Ice  Flip (these days Tarmogoyfdoesn't stand out that much) - thus lightning bolt is good for "bolting the bird" but not much else. You play white, PLEASE play the best 1 cmc removal spell, Path to Exile

5# If you don't get anything of discarding cards, i would advise against running 4x Cathartic Reunion, as they require you to discard 2 (which can be a problem if the game goes long), and if it gets countered you can get into a lot of trouble (if you discarded something important (like a reanimation spell), because you needed to pay the cost, to discard something you wanted to reanimate), play more Tormenting Voice - and i would add 1x Reverberate in place of 1 of those loot spells, as it can mean twice the cards drawn, or can act as a counterspell, if you copy the opponent's counterspell with it.

6# Run more than 4x reanimation spells! Those are your win conditions, if you don't get to them you are like a fish on land.

April 23, 2018 8:32 a.m.

Xica says... #9

By "not get anything out of discarding cards" i mean that you don't have any cards that get bonus if you discarded something, like Hollow One, Curator of Mysteries, Flameblade Adept ...etc)

The idea is to go infinite with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Restoration Angel or Felidar Guardian.

You can dig for the combo with Board the Weatherlight

Slow the game down with Thalia, Guardian of Thraben

Get value from flickering cards like History of Benalia and Blade Splicer.

Any suggestions are welcome

May 12, 2018 12:25 a.m.

Lose the game so many times that you combo off before your opponent kills you. Gideon of the Trials replaces Phyrexian Unlife and control spells replace scry and ramp in an Ad Nauseam deck. Also, because modern gets boring if you only play staples, a whole bunch of cards that will just kill you if you don't draw all the right pieces at the right time. What could go wrong?

stensiagamekeeper your deck is a really cool concept, although it may be a bit slow to pull off with the high CMC. Have you considered Death's Shadow? I really like the idea of dropping yourself to zero and playing a one drop 13/13.

If you guys don't mind checking out my deck, I have been playing Modern Merfolk for several years now and while I'm not necessarily interested in card suggestions, I am building a primer for the archetype and I want people to link me their merfolk decks that splash colors so I can feature them on my page. Primarily I want to see Azorius and Simic Merfolk lists since they're the most commonly used splash option for merfolk decks in competive play. I have yet to see red or black being splashed in merfolk, but it would be interesting to see a brew in those colors as well.

Also, thoughts on Merfolk Trickster? I like it a lot, but I am torn as to what I should cut to make room for it.

stensiagamekeeper

If you want consistency, you will need card filtering, which means either going for blue cantrips like Serum Visions, Sleight of Hand ...etc. or for red looting effects like Faithless Looting.

If you want to abuse black "you lose the game" enchantments, i think it would be better to play white flicker effects. If you run Ad Nauseam, then (despite neither of us liking it), Lightning Storm is miles ahead of Zombie Infestation. What i am trying to say is that these two plans are not necessarily best suited to be played in the same deck. (there are more very painful, black enchantments to be abused, beside Demonic Pact, like Bitterblossom, Phyrexian Etchings ...etc. - or even Null Profusion for the completely mental players)

Like the previous poster mentioned Death's Shadow is a card that has great potential for builds like this, and i would add, that cards like Fling & Rite of Consumption are madly strong with it.
They often mean game if the opponent tries to race you, as they can act as walls, or just go to face if painful manabases, or bob put them in range of the 13 dmg bolt.

DangoDaikazoku

For some reason - probably thanks to lorwyn block art - i have a very visceral disgust of merfolk (which got reduced a lot in ixalan)...

If you are thinking about playing red, then pairing up Spreading Seas with Blood Moon seems like a strategy that in itself is often enough to win, not to mention, that you would get access to one of if not the best merfolk of all time Jori En, Ruin Diver, which can be pretty crazy, but you would likely have to give up the vial plan, in favour of cantrips, and cheap stuff in general. (+ Lightning Bolt aka. shit removal spell, that has a great failure mode, going to the face)

Imho, i don't think green merfolk is anything special, it trades if vulnerability to Choke, for being hit by Blood Moon, and the green creatures it gains are often not helping the "play all the lords & islandwalk for the win" strategy that the deck want to play, not to tmenion that playing Phantasmal Image as the X-th lord offers the option to copy value cards that are run by goodstuff decks (Dark Confidant for example).

Beside the general black packages, like targeted discard, draw for life, and destroy effect, there is not much reason to go black - Sygg, River Cutthroat exists, but he is more of a rogue tribal card, a merfolk.

Hello everyone. The deck was based on the color combo. This is what has become of the deck, since the unbanning of Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Furthermore, the deck aims to be a Control shell with 7x Walkers. It also pairs Lingering Souls alongside to protect the walkers, with an abundant suit of situational, spot, and board control spells.

Thoughts or insight are be welcomed.

Okay so I decided to build something that people would call me crazy for, but couldn't say crap else. I looked into the deep stretches of magic and found the satyrs, a bunch of support creatures that are supposed to be really bad alone. And so I built Tappedout's first true Satyr Tribal deck.

It's actually pretty fast for what it is. I managed to get a turn 5 kill with it, which I think is pretty nifty.

So please have a look! And feel free to leave suggestions. Close to a dollar if you can possibly keep your suggestions that cheap.

Its a variant of esper glory with a $400 dollar budget. The goal of the deck is to basically pick your opponents game plan apart with disruption and then win by out grinding your opponent. The sideboard is very rough but i would love some input on it to prepare me for the meta. I would love general advice on tunning the deck and mana base to get it running as fluid as possible.

Here is a great goblin deck I have just thrown together. Much better than what I had before, tons more token generation. It is loosely built on another deck, but I think my options on it are far better. I don't use piledrivers and some of the other cards, and the Goblin King and Blood Moon combo is alive and well here. Throw in some of the others and you have a recipe for massive goblins that cannot be blocked and keep multiplying.
