So, we have a mtg club and we wanted to make super cheap decks for newbies that they could play with and/or buy for under 5 bucks. The idea is that they encompass the color they are composed of and be able to compete with intro decks from Walmart basically.
This blue one BLUE mono $3(one of the five) needs some work and i'm running out of steam as i don't play blue decks (I love red white weenie decks...don't judge)
Thanks for the help ahead of time!
TheDevicer interesting read, I like Hour of Need and I could swap the krakens out for Omenspeaker to feed it, what do you think?

You need a playset of Battlefield Thaumaturge and Hour of Need. Impulse or Anticipate let you dig. Fact or Fiction draws and digs.

TheDevicer totally missed that ability making Hour of Need cost less to strive I can just drop the daring thiefs for Battlefield Thaumaturge and maybe add 4x Anticipate to help dig and drop Divination to 3x copies
I've updated list to reflect this.

TheDevicer also just so you know Fact or Fiction isn't legal in modern

TheDevicer Yeah, normally I'd agree with you but there is one person in particular that would whine to no end about it...the reason I know is he already complained about this card being in a new guys deck...but then again he's someone that is willing to drop the cash for a full playset of Snapcaster Mage in a deck that literally doesn't need them in it. oh well that's why i love beating him with decks like Zada, the Draw master

u need less creatures like Triton Shorestalker. They are not good enough. Also idk how ur gonna make the deck under 5 bucks when all the tron lands are like 1-2 bucks each.
January 20, 2016 7:50 p.m.
IzzetFanatic ...Islands are tron lands...wait what?...

I'm assuming he's thinking you're trying to build Tron in modern. For that, you'd need the urza lands which would run you way more than 3 bucks.

@medownyou, TheDevicer: I'm sorry. Were we not talking about UrzaTron lands? I didn't know there were any other tron lands.

yeah...those would put the budget for all FIVE decks over lol
January 20, 2016 8:10 p.m.
@IzzetFanatic No no, there aren't other tron lands just there can't be any tron lands in this deck at all as the literal budget is like $3

This dude's deck is a mono blue brew. It's not tron at all.

Great club idea. Budget Magic is accessible Magic - power to the people!
I can imagine a box of 5 mono decks for less than $20 that someone can carry around, share the Magic love, and not be worried about it getting destroyed or stolen.
Post up what else you make!

My buddy made five allied colored decks that are representative of their colors just for that reason. GR is stompy, UW is tempo control, etc.

GearNoir yep that's the idea I had a friend make a wood box for lands last week, and make custom vinyl clings so I'm going to print out the land symbols to put on the final plexiglass slice that we we'll both have a land caddy and a deck holder in one with symbol to quickly tell where each deck should be and where club land is for drafts, pack wars ect. I'll build the other decks yesterday and I've just made them public and threw them into a folder http://tappedout.net/mtg-deck-folders/3-deck-series/
Yep these are promo decks basically, and the idea is that if someone wants one they can pick up a functional deck for $5 bucks and the club will just make another one to replace it.

Very nice medownyou! Have you found that all these are pretty even in power? I'd like to do something like this for a class I TA for.

GearNoir I've yet to receive some of the cards in physical copy to test out but so far the red and white deck as well as the black one win a fair bit of casual games we do a lot of 4 person ffa's or 2 headed giants and they work well enough to support someone with a slightly better deck than the decks of the other team.
