Will There be at Least a Reference to Phyrexia in Kaladesh?

Tezzeret's appearance on Kaladesh will obviously be foreshadowing Bolas appearing in the Amonkhet block, but I do hope that it also foreshadows Phyrexia returning to the story, since it has been some time since Phyrexia had a direct role in the story.

Obviously, Phyrexia will not be invading Kaladesh in this block, but I do hope that at least a reference is made to it, perhaps as a comment by Tezzeret, or perhaps even a mention of "glistening oil."

What does everyone else say about this? Will there be at least a reference to Phyrexia in the Kaladesh block?

I was hoping that during the latest story, while Rashmi is briefly seeing/interacting with other planes, she would inadvertently bring a drop of glistening oil to Kaladesh. Missed opportunity...womp womp

Tezzerets probably going to say something about it, or it will come up as rashmi gets the full story about the rest of the multiverse. I was hoping the glistening oil would happen as well, but it might come up if we ever return to kaladesh, similar to what happened with mirrodin

Kushala, as far I know, none of the planeswalkers who are currently on Kaladesh have even heard of Phyrexia, unless Elspeth told Ajani about it.

However, some users here have expressed concern that WotC might not wish to have a trend of every artifact-focused plane be invaded by Phyrexia, so it is uncertain what plane Phyrexia may invade next, because they obviously will be invading other planes.

Wizno, yes that was definitely a missed opportunity.

DemonDragonJ I'm pretty sure at least lilliana has dealt with them at some point, I'm not sure though. And we have no idea what saheeli has done. And even if none of them have been personally involved with phyrexia, we can assume that they have heard about it via word of mouth.

One drop of oil wouldn't be enough to turn Kaladesh. Mirrodin only fell because its overseer was phyrexian and the oil was able to completely corrupt the inside of the hollow plane long before anyone realized what was happening. Kaladesh is solid and earthen, and it would be very easy to destroy "newer phyrexia" before it becomes anywhere near powerful enough to conquer the plane.

"as far I know, none of the planeswalkers who are currently on Kaladesh have even heard of Phyrexia, unless Elspeth told Ajani about it."

Incorrect. Ajani does know about New Phyrexia, but not from Elspeth. He heard about it by word of mouth from unnamed planeswalkers (possibly Tamiyo, now that we know about her story circle, and that she has stories from Mirrodin) before meeting up with Elspeth on Theros.

His interest stemmed from worry for Elspeth, and the fact that he keeps track of planes with Leonin communities across the multiverse.

Kushala, Liliana has actually never interacted with Phyrexia that we know of.

She was born after the Phyrexian Apocolypse on Dominaria, was nowhere near Mirrodin during Scars block, and has never made any mention of the plane.

She's probably not interested in planes that don't have mansions to be honest.

sonnet666 I bet New Phyrexia has Lovely mansions, hand crafted from the skin of heritics by Elesh Norn herself or something
