With Avacyn destroyed and all hell breaking loose across the plane, it falls on Thalia and the spirit of Saint Traft to save the plane; whether to make an unlikely alliance, or pray for divine intervention

I wonder where the rest of the angels were, though. And, if there were werewolves and vampires fighting together in Thraben, then I wonder why Arlinn Kord  Flip didn't show up. I wonder which vampires she was aiding in the woods.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who dislikes these stories when James Wyatt writes them.

I had to drag myself through it. Sigarda's appearance brought a spark of hope, but even that part wasn't very climactic.

I was just happy Sigarda showed up. I thought she was pretty badass taking on Brisela alone (though I did feel Thalia was a bit Deus Ex Machina there; I thought it was going to be a 1v1 fight).

I like the unlikely alliance formation. Eldrazi do seem to bring the inhabitants of a plane together in co-operation. What other force in the multiverse can boast that? Who knows? Maybe that is the true purpose for the edrazi's existence?

Lol, makes it easier if everyone is there to consume all at once.

This story was exciting, but the battle against Brisela seemed to be too short and anti-climactic. At least Thalia's character development was nice, but even then there strong similarities to the Battle for Zendikar block, with Thalia being the leader of the last force of humans (akin to Tazri) and Olivia being the leader of the vampires with whom the humans were forced to form an uneasy alliance (akin to Drana). However, I do believe that it is safe to presume that the next block will be very different from this one, which is good.

I also was very pleased to see Sigarda in this story, even if she was defeated too easily, and I definitely expect her to become the new guardian of humanity with Avacyn dead.

RicketyEng, the original Phyrexia forced numerous factions to put aside their differences to fight a common enemy, and I have no doubt that new Phyrexia shall also have such an effect, as well.

Noooooo this story doesn't have anything that can be used to start fights with random strangers on the internet :(

I feel like that whole story was rushed. Like we went from a mostly ragtag group of people trying to stay alive to get to where they're going to figure out what's going on to like, an alliance with vampires werewolves and humans against an army of eldrazi while thalia (who we decide to make extremely powerful) goes to take on brisela, who was only just introduced in the stories. Like the amount that that story progressed events was incredible and it just feels like we're rushing through any story that the gatewatch doesn't have members featuring in.

I did enjoy the story, it was just poorly paced in my opinion. Should have been at least 2 different articles describing leading up to the alliance and then from the alliance through the battle.

Yup I definitely agree the first part was slow but then Eldritch Moon is just like so fast by comparison.

The following is a subjective rant about the Magic story. It is not to be taken as fact, as it has been hastily scrawled out on a mobile device. There are no sources or hard facts or clear examples of anything to confirm the statements made, or at least none referenced. This is merely one fans biases opinion, so please take it as such. Anyway, here we go: Im really ticked at the way the story has been progressing. It's all about the freaking plot convenience of the Gatewatch now. Last week, Sorin was trapped in rock because of an oversight he would never make, only so that he can be in the debt of this "super team" that is apparently stronger than two Eldrazi Titans but can be 1v3d by Ob Nixillis. This week, Thalia led a charge on Thraben with the last surviving cathars and an army of geists, but it's going to fail so the likes of Jace and Gideon can save the day. I came to read a story about Innistrad, where denizens of Innistrad fight to save their plane. Not some self-righteous bodybuilder and his smart sidekick. And this is supposed to continue for the forseeable future. I think it's ludicrous that old walkers like Sorin and Ugin need to take a back seat to poster-children like Gideon and Jace. I get it on planes like Zendikar where Nissa was born, and Chandra and Jace were there to help release the eldrazi in the first place. But certainly not on places like Innistrad, where none of the members had ever been, and suddenly appear and save the day because why shouldn't MTG have a Justice League? It makes me so mad that this is happening. Why can't Sigarda or Thalia do anything useful? They're plenty strong, albeit no match for Emrakul herself (who honestly shouldn't be there anyway,) but at least don't cop out and just say the Gatewatch win, because if three pre-mending walkers can't kill them, then sure has anything four post-mending walkers don't have a chance in Phyrexia. It drives me completely insane and doesn't make me excited for the future of the story.TL;DR A fans poorly written 2:00 in the morning rant about the Gatewatch undermining and diminishing other characters role's in the story purely because of plot convenience and demographic.

Personally, I enjoyed the stories more when they focused around non-planeswalking characters like Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran and Rhys the Exiled. I never read most of the books, but just by looking at the Wiki, their stories are far more interesting than the planeswalkers's, which is VERY ironic, and there are very few exceptions (ex. Karn).

I like the idea of the gatewatch and the consistency it can provide, I feel like the execution and balance of gatewatch-focus to other-focus is still a work in progress as wizards adjusts to fan reactions and tries to get a feel for how to handle this, as it's very much a new thing for them.

also the "stronger than an eldrazi titan but beaten by ob nixilis" is a matter of different situation. against the eldrazi they had a well thought-out plan with connection to all of zendikar's mana, against ob nixilis it was a kind of sudden brawl and showed that they aren't at their best in just trying to be stronger than their opponents and also showed that ob nixilis is an extremely, extremely strong villain.
