Interesting. Apart from being a good read, it introduces a potentially new Planeswalker.
Also, this tells something about Jace, so we might get a "cycle" of these articles based on each of the 'Walkers in Origins. Looking forward to the Chandra one <3
Thinking about it again and given the description, the unnamed Planeswalker could be Gideon. Then we might see a few articles linking the Origin 'Walkers to each other.

They haven't discovered it. Ral purposefully sabotaged the project in order to keep that a secret and got demoted in the process. It's also interesting to see a bit of sibling rivalry (so to speak) between jace and ral

I kind of feel bad for Ral. I loved Ravnica and yet someone not from the plane took on the role of the Living Guildpact. However, I can't see Zarek in the role because then the guilds would have went to war.
I just have this feeling that the tension between Ral and Niv will hit a fever pitch because of the surveillance on Jace, and Ral not wanting Niv to know about the existence of planeswalkers, no less the fact that Jace and Ral are two of them.

Ral and Niv could come to blows eventually, it seems. I like that they developed Ral's character more, though. He's a very interesting Planeswalker.

Next time in Ravnica: niv mizzet goes insane and tries to eat a Planeswalker. Learns to not do that.

Nah, it says the unnamed PW had a dent in his armor, so that even further proves it was Gideon. He also appears in a Boros garrison, so it's probably Gideon.
The part where Jace says he can't remember his past is interesting.

Magicrafter, it is known that jace doesn't remember his youth. I don't know where you can find it, but jace's father and mentor knew he was a planeswalker before jace did. When have discovered he was a planeswalker and that his mentor and father hid that from him, he made them go insane or something in a fit of rage. After, he was so guilt ridden, he planeswalked away and wiped his own memory.

I think they more or less confirmed that Jace's first planeswalk was to Ravnica. They gave it away while he was talking to Ral when they arrived at the garrison.

Well, that was an interesting read.
In general I like these lore pieces but parts of em can be very cheesy. Like, they do a good job developing the characters but then decide they need to do a "here let me explain my feelings to you in a situation where it's clearly not the right time" kinda thing. Just forces it down the readers throats. It's as if they don't think they've done a good enough job on the character development, and want to give you an extra dose of it, but in reality they have done a fine job and the extra stuff just makes the whole story worse. Without spoilers, i'm talking about the part of the story right under the picture of the Boros garrison.

To be honest i wish they would just bring back full novels to fix that kyuuri117 that way they have more space to really flesh out this sort of thing rather than force it due to space restrictions

Yea. Cuz seriously, the last thing anyone wants to read is Jace and Ral having a hissy fit over whether or not Jace is allowed to feel like a true Ravnican or not. "Damnit Jace it's not the same!" Like what.

I thought it was kind of adorable to see them bicker though...but Ral threatening jace with lighting several times was something i expect a middleschooler to write in their fanfiction

This UR makes me think what would happen if Gideon and Jace met, and Chandra was thrown into the mix.

I could understand the first threat of death by voltage because having someone rummaging through your head sounds less than fun.
Multiple times was a bit much.
And I dunno, I get that Jace is bummed he can't remember where he came from but having that discussion when you are on a stakeout seems wierd. And frankly, with the ending, just felt like a way to conveniently feed Gideon information.

Out of curiosity, as I've only very recently discovered these fun reads: how much bearing do they have on the sets? e.g. Of the host of characters in this story, how many can I expect might show up in Origins? (My secret hope is obviously for a Ral card, as he is part of my top two favorite planeswalkers)

They confirmed that Jace, Chandra, Nissa, Giddeon, and Lili would be the focus of Origins.
And you can also expect Nissa in BFZ, probably along with Sorin.

Seems like Gideon might have finally found a planeswalker to recruit in his campaign against the Eldrazi. Good choice, too. As the Living Guildpact, Jace clearly has experience making decisions that can steer the course of an entire plane.

Who is this person?! I will not allow for somebody to be craftier than Ral Zarek!
Nobody spies on Ral Zarek! Except for maybe Dack Fayden!
The story made it seem like the unnamed person is a white Planeswalker due to the rigorousness of said person's usual schedule. I know it may very well be somebody we already know as a walker but I hope it's somebody new.
At the same time I don't want this to turn into Hero's where freaking everybody is a Planeswalker.

I believe the mysterious Walker is Gideon Jura. The Boros connection is too obvious.

The unnamed walker is almost certainly Gideon. What's more interesting to me is what Will happen now that the Izzet have discovered that the Living Guildpact is a planeswalker.
