Is it possible for Linvala to get to Innistrad?

Highly unlikely, but how cool would it be to see Linvala throw down against Avacyn?

Darkmagi1131 says... #2

Won't happen. Avacyn gets killed by Sorin Anguished Unmaking. And Linvala would have to be a planeswalker or find a portal to Innistrad. So impossible.

you contradicted yourself. It's possible she could find a portal, which refutes you saying it's impossible.

Second, I'm aware Sorin destroys Avacyn and I'm aware Linvala is not a Planeswalker.

I said "how cool would it be?", not whether or not it's the story line.

Except that post mending portals don't work or are highly unstable. So no I didnt contridict myself. Plus theres no portals on Zendikar. If there were don't you think they would have used them to escape the Eldrazi?

I mean, this is kinda like saying "How cool would it be to see Mecha Godzilla fight Megatron?" Utterly useless but if you're into that, go nuts.

shinobigarth says... #7

It probably wouldn't be that cool even if it were possible.

Everyones buttholes are always so tight when it come to "What if" posts smh

If it were possible, Avacyn would probably end up ripping Linvala to pieces since she is now influenced by mana and is super aggressive.

Oh and TheDevicer, Megatron wins everytime ;)

Impossibility List:

1: Linvala getting to Innistrad

2: Megatron losing

3: Megatron not heartedly laugh at the Autobots

Linvala gets raped by Avacyn the second she arrives. seriously thats why i said it wouldn't be cool, she would get dominated if the two of them fought.

Wow...sorry to have upset the delicate balance of fiction for everyone.

Let's recap...Planewalkers are not nearly as powerful as they once were. Sorin can basically blink and take Avacyn out, so Avacyn is really not that big a deal. The popular opinion seems to be that Avacyn would beat Linvala, so she must really be a little bitch. And here the cards imply they are some sort of powerful creatures. Oh well...

shinobigarth says... #14

well i mean Linvala is only just now a 5/5, 3/4 previously.

Avacyn is 8/8 indestructible at her most powerful (the form in the original block in which she practically handed Grizzles, a powerful demon, his butt, and he got lucky by spearing her at the last second), then a 5/4 in a powered-down mode, and now a 4/4 that turns into a 6/5.

but these newer cards represent her in a less powerful form, so strictly speaking cards if you had Linvala's most powerful form, she could kill Avacyn's least powerful form. but flavor wise Linvala only really wins when Avacyn's having a bad day or just got out of a fight with someone else.

i mean bear in mind a 3/4 isn't really all that great when you consider lions are typically around that size, and some bears are 4/4. heck, some freaking HUMANS are 4/4 or larger, like Surrak for example.

I should probably mention that this whole idea was spurred mostly by the fact that Avacyn believes she is now purifying Innistrad and Linvala's card title actually says "the Preserver" this time around, but lore wise it seems to me that Segarda is the one who will be taking on that role, even though she still looks super badass and all mad and stuff.

That said, welcome to Innistrad where Avacyn is the most powerful being around aside from the Planeswalker that created her. Oh, and except for the frog in the pond. (Had to mention that, and I know it's a very special/rare case).

I'm waiting for Garruk to come and hunt that giant frog. wonder if he knows about it?

March 30, 2016 12:25 p.m.

capriom85 says... #17

I'd love to see Garruk in the story line again. I don't keep up on lore as much as I could, but as far as I know we haven't heard much about him since he got hit with the Chain Veil and went on a Planeswalker killing spree. Garruk, Apex Predator was the last way I know him to be.

yeah last we heard Jace confronted him but he didn't want to change, then he killed a walker named Vronos, and thats all. he does seem to only want to hunt walkers right now, though so not sure if he would even find a giant frog worth his time. now that is something that would be a cool fight. the ultimate hunter vs a giant hypnotic frog.

capriom85 says... #19

Haha! That would be a great throw down. If Garruk doesn't want to change back to a semi good aligned character I at least want to see a new persona printed. Apex Hunter isn't really playable in Standard so a reprint would disappoint me, but something in the 5-6 drop range could be fun. Any idea what plane this was on? He doesn't seem to fit the Innistrad story line this time around.

shinobigarth says... #20

i don't think its been said what plane it was that Jace confronted him or where he killed Vronos.

iBleedPunk says... #21

Garruk was confronted on Zendikar I do believe. He had a hedron stuck in his forehead by Jace like Ob Nixilis had to stop him from being able to freely planeswalk and continue killing his fellow Planeswalkers.

capriom85 says... #22

Ohhh. That rings a bell

March 31, 2016 1:37 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #23

ah ok. if i were Jace and i learned about Nahiri coming over and acting like a dick to Innistrad (since she's probably the one responsible for the angels going nuts and thus responsible for the humans that were killed because of it), i would immediately go and "release the Garruk", sending him to hunt Nahiri. and then he could also kill that stupid frog while he was at it.

capriom85 says... #24

That'd be great...Garruk can be Jace's kraken. "Garruk hungry? Go get that bad lithomancer, boy!"

You guys have a link for that confrontation between Jace and Garruk?

April 16, 2016 4:18 a.m.

RussischerZar says... #26

It's in the Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 storyline mode. You basically defeat Ob Nixilis and steal his hedron, then go to Shandalar (or Zendikar? not sure) and put the hedron in Garruk's head after defeating him.

In Garruk's Revenge (the DLC) he is apparently on Alara though.

All Magic 2015 Duels cinematics: link.
