Black/White Legendary Angel on Innistrad

Lore forum

When the legendary angels of Innistrad appeared in Avacyn Restored, many players, including myself, wondered why there was no black/white angel, despite there being angels of the other three color combinations that involved white (as a side note, I myself thought that Avacyn would be black/white, due to her wearing black armor and having a grim facial expression).

However, recently, in a story told from Sigarda's perspective, another angel was mentioned, a fellow sister to the other angels who predated Avacyn, whom Avacyn killed. Her name was not revealed, but, from the way that she was described, it seemed that her colors were black and white.

I do not believe that WotC would have revealed such information if they were not planning for that angel to be important to the story, later, but I do really hope that WotC did not mention her simply to provide further backstory for Avacyn, to make her seem more powerful, and to satisfy the player's curiosity about a black/white angel on Innistrad.

What does everyone else say about this? Will the fifth legendary angel of Innistrad ever be important to the plot?

She may have something to do with liliana... as the angel interacted with demons, the demons could be one of the remaining 2 liliana must kill.

They say Avacyn killed her, then she can always return in a stand alone set not part of the main story.

I do not think they plan on adding in this orzhov angel because they already have a lot of legendary creatures. We will find out tomorrow at 8am PT / 11am ET

What if they brought back the angel as one of liliana's main tools to fight back against emrakul with? It might be a shot in the dark, but hey who knows... it was said in the lore stories that any zombies lili reanimated were immune to emrakul's mind controlling power stuff.(sorry if that sounds highly uneducated, I couldn't think of any of way to word it)

So in short, rather than lili fighting against the angel in some way, what if she fights with/through this angel. Just a guess though! c:

I think it's more likely that we see the black/white angel in a commander product or other supplemental set than in this story.

Samurai would have cleared this up by now...

I've been hoping for the B/W Angel ever since spoiler season started, but now that we're backed against the "dump day", I don't think its likely.

asasinater13, that is my presumption, as well, and I imagine that that is where Ludevic and Edgar Markov shall appear, if they appear, in the game, at all.

theeagleofrome, so, the origins of the werewolves are known? If so, I imagine that their progenitor would also be a powerful character who might appear in the game, at some point, and also do not forget Shilgengar, the demon who helped Edgar Markov originally create vampires on Innistrad.

I personally think that the upper-end angels (possibly excluding Avacyn) follow the same sort of rule that the demons follow: they cannot be truly killed. Else they would have been overwhelmed long ago. I think that in a future set, maybe 5/6 years from now, the b/w angel will return. OR, maybe she'll show up earlier as the much-asked for angel planeswalker, thus not requiring a return to innistrad while advancing innistrad's story and satisfying a player request. That would make sense, as she would have gotten something out of talking with and potentially dealing with demons. Just food for thought.
