Your Ravnican Experience

Limited forum

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some input on all of your experiences with Ravnica, from 'Ravnica: City of Guilds' to 'Ravnica Allegiant'(omitting War of the Spark). Mostly I'd like to know about your limited environment experience: Did you stick with guilds, splash for shard/wedge, were rocks good or skipped, what you liked/didn't like, and anything else I may have missed.

This is for a Cube project I'm working on, and I unfortunately did not get to experience any of these drafts/releases so any and all input you got be it a few sentences or a book. Just please specify which sets you're referring to. Thanks in advance!.

War is not being included because it is an event rather than part of a block. Also it's focus on walkers kind of makes it stand out from the rest. The cube will be all the time leading to that event and mashing the different blocks together as best possible.

Well, I stuck with guilds (with a splash for bombs), but whenever I did a online draft (through somthing like draftsim that dosen't cost money) I would see If I could draft off guild for fun.

I played a lot of Azorius when drafting Guilds, blue gave card draw and the two colors together gave good control pieces. Definitely give support for people to draft the control archetype, it's a lot of fun, especially since the locks are weak with such a small pool of cards and no one is sweating, like, a Force of Will

...Pack Rat...draft that rat and fill the rest of your deck with 59 Swamp mulligan until it in your hand and you have a shot at winning in limited im willing to bet lol.

sure Pithing Needle, Detention Sphere and Supreme Verdict are also in Limited but pack rat was/is still really good.

In Ravnica Allegiance, I drafted Simic. Adapt was a powerful mechanic with cards like Sharktocrab, Pteramander, and especially Biomancer's Familiar. I stuck with the Simic guild due to the Simic seeded pack I got. I'm no good at draft, so I stick with a color combination even if I can't figure out how good it'll be.

Did your project worked out JANKYARD_DOG?

Sorry for dusting off this thread after so long, but curious ;)

At the time of 3rd Ravnican block I just started to play, so not sure how much my experience would help you - I drafted best cards, neglecting guild synergies, but finishing in one of them either :P

rotimislaw Unfortunately no, not long after this post my life kind of fell apart... So it was forgotten, and now I lack the conviction to turn 1791 cards (WotS not included) into something much smaller, effective, fun, and that captures the full flavor of Ravnica... perhaps one day...
