Thoughts on Domanaria Pre-release

Domanaria Pre-release was one of the funnest Pre-release events I have ever played. I built a deck of white and black deck, Aryel, Knight of Where Did She Go.

What do you think about playing Domanaria Pre-release (if you played already)?

I have decided after pre-release I absolutely hateBaloth Gorger with all my guts especially when kicked that guy is just so annoying to get rid of in . I was still happy with how I did besides going 1-3 if only because I got Karn. Super excited for dominaria drafts!

Very fun! Went 2-2 with U/W flyers/soldiers.

I think the best part was that everybody had a different deck. The variety was awesome. The power level at uncommon was great and made for exciting games.

Were your able to play Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage? It is probably the card I am most excited about.

I am doing a 2HG event tomorrow, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

rob_shifflett, I did play Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage once, but he was exiled by Blessed Light. Sad times.

I have never play Two-Headed-Giant before. I think the best way to win 2HG is to find cards that said 'each opponent' like The Eldest Reborn.

Sadly I couldn't attend one due to exams :(

I heard that somebody opened a foil Mox Amber though, and there were several Karn, Scion of Urzas'.

I played Raff. He's very good in limited.

My brother pulled a Foil Gilded Lotus and a Mox Amber.

I pulled nothing worth more than $5.

I'm a little surprised, there seemed to be mostly B/W knight decks running around. I saw 5 different Lyra Dawnbringers today between my matches and adjacent tables, and every deck but mine in the top 8 was BW or BWx (I was on Temur goodstuff, featuring 2 of the 3 Tatyova, Benthic Druids I pulled)

I am one of the lucky bastards that pulled a promo mox amber! although I got one very valuable card, the rest of my deck didn't fit together very well with not too many great creatures in any 2 colors. ended up in Mardu with no strong synergies. Thoughts: The power level of the uncommons is really high, and removal is pretty good in this set. Sagas can be very good, but some like The Eldest Reborn where the best effect is the last one are not as good as the opponent has 2 turns to destroy it and often they will. The format is not incredibly aggressive, so not like Ixalan where if you had no answers or solid blockers before turn 3 you were just dead on board. Multani, Yavimaya avatar is very hard to deal with, luckily there is exile at common. Evra, Halycon witness is absolutely insane. It can essentially reset your life if you are low and then become huge in a snowballing effect. As expected, kicker cards give you great flexibility, which is a huge upside.

Yeah White/x was pretty powerful. I saw tons of people at my event playing W/x decks (me included). The Knights are brutal to deal with. I feel like this set is a little clunky for sealed (like a little extra) but I think that it has the chance to be really interesting in draft. Good time though.
