Melds = Banding

similarities

attacks as one unit

gives buffs to all creatures in both

adds together power and toughness

differences-

Meld normally gives evasion currently

Melded creatures able to be taken out with one piece of removal

I'm not sure you even understand how the meld mechanic works.

Check out this article and I think the mechanic will make a bit more sense.

Banding lets creatures attack and block together, but melding actually makes them one creature. That's a very big difference.

Yeaaaah no. Meld physically makes them 1 permanent banding just allows them to block and attack as a unit, anything that targets a banded creature still just targets that 1.

Also, a card that Melds only Melds with one specific other card, whereas a creature with Banding can Band with any creature without Banding.

You see meld makes sense and is easy to explain to a new player... banding on the other hand...

When you deal 1 damage in combat to a pair of 1/1 creatures with banding, one will die. On the other hand, if there was a pair of 1/1s that melded in this situation the melded creature would not die.

Thank all that is holy there will never be a "Melds with Melding" card or an analogue to Unholy Citadel.
