Is it wrong...(Cube question)

Honestly, I can't afford to buy some power cards like Liliana of the Veil or Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Is it wrong to buy/use proxies of those cards for my cube? I don't believe it is, because honestly it is all about having fun, and the theme of the deck is Planeswalkers and Dragons. I thought it would be fun as hell to have them in it, and I got them for a steal. I have no intention of using the proxies in any tournament, and at worst they would be in a non-tournament EDH deck with permission from other players before-hand.

Anyone else see this as harmless, save to my wallet?

Nothing wrong with it. There's some satisfaction to owning the real cards, but if it's not worth dropping $50 or $100 on a card to you then don't worry about it.

It's also a security issue if you play your cube with people you don't know that well or if friends occasionally borrow your cube.

It's unfortunate but I've heard of power being stolen out of cubes. If someone gives you flack for it you could site that as your reason and they might be more understanding.

Since cubes aren't typically used in sanctioned tournaments nor are there ever prizes for playing, I don't think anybody would complain so long as you make good, high-resolution proxies.

I know a guy who proxies the power in his Cube. Granted, it's a fully tuned Cube, so owning that much power isn't really viable, but I've yet to hear anyone complain.

as people have said, cubes aren't really played in sanctioned tournaments and wizards has openly stated that they don't care if players use proxies as long aren't trying to counterfeit and as long as it isn't sanctioned play (not that they would have any way of enforcing this anyway).

This is pretty much along the lines of what I have thought. I would love to be able to own cards like this, and have the money to do whatever I want in Magic, but I don't. I am glad others think along the same lines I do. Thanks folks, the reassurance is appreciated.

Agreed, I find it fun to use nice printed out proxies with various arts representing the flavor of the card.

For example, Darth Vader on Go for the Throat
